This part keeps me up a night. Higher costs now but soon we’re going to realize even availability has been interrupted with these policies. “…the president’s sweeping global tariffs have made numerous materials needed for the U.S. energy system — like copper, steel, and batteries — more expensive.

Guess we’ll find out soon if they have already patented and are looking to commercialize: “Lu said, adding that the core formulation was proprietary and protected by patents. “It’s a mixture of ingredients. But the core formula is our secret.’”

This new tool, the Carbon Impacts Tracer, which translates carbon emissions into real-world climate impacts like heat exposure and coral bleaching, looks super useful. ➡️ carbonimpactstracer.com

New tool directly links carbon emissions to amount of environmental and economic damage caused
Carbon Impacts Tracer can be used to estimate climate impact from emissions across eight different factors, including lost food production

Absolutely fascinating, kudos to MIT on this innovation: “Devices that can peer into the human body from the outside, like x-ray scanners and mri machines, have transformed medicine. A new generation of ingestible sensors could do the same from the inside.”

One of those critical mechanisms for long-term resilience is the “filling of the funnel” of innovation. Not every research-funded path turns into GPUs (30+ yrs of public-funded dev) or Li+ batteries (created at Exxon, issues corrected by Goodenough at Oxford), but we MUST walk every path regardless

2️⃣ Personal carbon footprints can inform people about which of their actions are most carbon-intensive. This solves a real problem, as most people lack knowledge about which behavior changes matter for climate change mitigation (understandably, since this is complex).

Graphic reading, “The difference between ‘There used to be hot summers too.’ and climate crisis.” Below is a temperature-anomaly chart showing mostly blue, cooler-than-average years in the earlier record, shifting dramatically toward sustained red, warmer-than-average years in recent decades. Occasional earlier red bars are labelled “These were hot summers,” while the sustained cluster of increasingly warm recent years is labelled “This is climate change.”
