Looking at your graph and ignoring the towel rails (notably poor emitters), you seem to use heating of ~ 150kWh over a floor area of ?100m2 so 1.5kWh/(m2.a), way below the Passivhaus criterion of 15. What’s the secret?

Thomas Edison in 1910. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves on this net zero business, lads
Someday some fellow will invent a way of concentrating and storing sunshine to use instead of this old, absurd Prometheus scheme of fire.
I'll do the trick myself if someone doesn't get at it....
This scheme of combustion in order to get power makes me sick to think of—it is so wasteful.... We should utilize natural forces and thus get all of our power. Sunshine is a form of energy, and the winds and the tides are manifestations of energy. Do we use them? Oh no; we burn up wood and coal, as renters burn up the front fence for fuel.
We live like squatters, not as if we owned the property. There must surely come a time when heat and power will be stored in unlimited quantities in every community, all gathered by natural forces. Electricity ought to be as cheap as oxygen, for it cannot be destroyed.
Now, I am not sure but that my new storage battery is the thing. 167

I was asked "What do other countries do about big money in politics?" Canada is a useful case study as their parliamentary system closely mirrors the UK's (for obvious reasons) - except they've totally clamped down on mega-donations.

Yes. The problem with air to water when used for cooling, is that wall hung “radiators” are poor absorbers of heat. Underfloor pipes only a bit better. Air-to-air use a fan and a much colder coolant in the pipes

As I board the ferry from Tallinn to Helsinki, I’m reminded yet again of three things about the EU: 1) You don’t sacrifice any of your national identity or culture by being part of the EU. Estonia remains Estonia. Finland remains Finland 2) Schengen is great. 3) Brexit was and is shit.

Is it "pragmatic" to approve new oil and gas drilling in the North Sea that could cost between £119 billion to £336 billion in climate damage? Sounds more like climate and economic vandalism.
A graphic that reads "the real cost of Rosebank & Jackdaw" with two piles of money one stacked higher than the other with the higher one labelled "£119 BN to £336 BN climate damage" and the smaller one labelled "£28.7 billion value" with the green party logo and imprint at the bottom

HG Wells is alleged to have remarked "Every time I see an adult on a bicycle, I no longer despair for the future of the human race”. You could see this shocking chart as an index of civilisation. A country which gets this issue so badly wrong is likely to fail in many other ways.

A brilliant project in most respects. Architects following on should however note: - some of the units are flats, and the narrow building separation at 22m means some GF flats get NO direct sunlight in winter; - MVHR intakes above doorways mean some flats suck in cigarette smoke from neighbours.

When they are not busy paying themselves huge bonuses, Thames Water's bosses are trying to convince the public it would be unaffordable to take them into public ownership Of course the experts completely disagree Demand Andy Burnham nationalise Thames Water: vist.ly/5encg
Quote from water expert Dieter Helm that says ""The government could even make a net profit through nationalisation of Thames Water since the bills should, exceed the costs of the business activities over time and gilts are cheaper than commercial loans."

Here’s why we care: it gives us more cheap energy during the day; it helps reduce wind farm shut-offs whilst National Grid speed up their act and build out the grid properly; it helps keep our bills lower. It’s not a perfect mechanism but some people will be able to make it work.

I second this. And good insulation means using a material with significant thermal mass, like wood fibre or straw, in the walls and roof pitch to slow the rate at which heat gets inside and to buffer the humidity so as to create a sublimely comfortable environment.
