Basically AI allows software engineers to produce shitty code *faster* and in higher volumes which increases the amount time spent on code reviews and revisions nullifying the productivity gained from producing the code in the first place.

I've talked about this before, but it is very hard when you see how moral red lines are drawn, and the complete gutting of trans people's civil rights is entirely within an accepted norm and barely remarked upon even by many progressives.

What concerns me most is that this article was clearly AI written. Which I ordinarily wouldn’t link to, but for this particular story it’s notable. You can’t un-cut-down trees so everything needs to stop until a human figures out what’s going on

Yes. I saw it with Lower Ed. Similar to challenging any orthodoxy, especially when you’re vulnerable to its collapse. You won’t convince them this is bankrupt. We who can live with the ambiguity of post austerity have to build better incentives for them, without them — and despite them. Sigh.

They are becoming more and more explicit that creating dossiers on you and graphing your relationships is the whole point. “Agents” indeed. www.cnbc.com/2026/10/07/m...
Former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer is taking a try-before-you-buy approach with her new photo-centric AI agent startup Dazzle, a tactic she said is important “for those occasional users or those users who are just trying to see what the service can do at the very beginning.”

Dazzle analyzes users’ personal photos to understand aspects of their lives, such as their family members or interests, and then can take actions like reminding someone that a pair of shoes they recently looked up is on sale online.

It’s a strategy she learned from her early tenure at Google
, before the company built its market-leading online ad platform.

I finally decided to cut contact with my father when he tried to kill me when I was 14, but that was after 14 years of constant abuse. Happily, I never had to second-guess my decision, since he sent me random unsolicited emails like this for the rest of his life, reminding me I made the right call.
My dad's dad was one of Tom Edison's techs when he invented the electric light. That helped him become an exec for Consolidated Edison in New York. (He became the VP of wholesale sales.) I never knew him, but he was a successful guy. His son, my dad, went to Cornell, I went to West Point. Its all about making the next generation better. In our case, from Ireland to Texas.

I yelled at you one night. I never hurt you. You are a pussy little twit.

You are a very strange, very pussy little asshole. I became a warrior from Germany to Iraq. You are a sissy little pussy that hates... hates... and hates..

You are a worthless little pussy...

I want to help my grandkids to be better than you.

I want to give them freedom from worrying about retirement by giving them money to have in the bank waiting for them when they retire.

But I also want that money to be kept from you. You are a worthless little pussy that gets all pussy-ized when yelled at. I want my grandkids to have the fruits of my labor. But I don't want a pussy assed little shit like you to get anywhere near it.

I figure I can leave them with about two million dollars. But i hope your hatefull, nasty little life dies in the streets. I want to set up my estate to get to my grandkids as soon as you die.

Love,

Deb and Dad

I keep getting stunned at how there is absolutely no discussion of the LGBT factor in these cut offs. It's just absent from any of the pieces on how kids cannot server contact because it's super mean. Unless somehow the teen LGBT homelessness widespread issue lies somehow magically unrelated (no).

Saw someone say the decline of Trek began during the DS9 war storyline, which, btw, remains the greatest writing in all of Trek. It didn’t torch the values of the franchise, it problematized utopian narratives about what it looks like to hold that much power, and took the realities of war seriously.

I fucking love that DS9 dragged some of its best characters through the worst of what they were capable of and expected them to either live with it or redeem themselves, and for us to forgive them, or simply come to terms with with their choices. Kira and O’Brien always represented this expectation.
