Always unpleasant when you accidentally stumble upon someone who you thought had just sort of been banished to the bowls of the internet, then you spend a moment looking over and yup, repugnant views still fully intact. At least nobody I follow follows them, I guess? Still, ew.

I literally kickstarted a book not too long ago and asked VERY explicitly in the comments to not get any of the extra stuff. They reached out and offered me a discount! No no, do not want, happy with my price and would just like to get a little less. Give to someone else, or just keep!

Weirdest 'reality tv' show pitch just came to me ( maybe something by Dropout or similar?) Audience sees- 5 performances, famous plays. 'meat' of the show- weird directing, costuming, lighting and general play craziness, random 'challenges'. Cut out any any explicit info. Match play to backscene

Ugh, I found this game that someone posted on here, very similar to connections ( which I haven't played in I don't know how long), where it's 4 sets of 4words but each overlaps with 2 of the others. Box with an empty middle I tried it, said 'oh I will poke at that later and apparently banished it

'Scientists don't want you to know that' Buddy, scientists will crawl over broken glass to educate you. The only thing they don't want is context collapse. They will even spend a lot of their time explaining why they might be wrong!

Email is case insensitve. Traditionally, making something case sensitive is less work, due to a lot of decisions made some time ago, so a few things being agnostic to it is always a bit strange. So why the fuck do some 'log in with email' websites use case sensitive versions of your email.

Came up elsewhere, but I'm just going to say that I feel like weighted blankets are, for me, a console hack that says ' currentWorryLevel--;' Sure it doesn't solve anything but it does make the chemicals slightly decrease, and sometimes that's the best you're gonna get.

Oh fun, the browser expand out video error is back. If I am on my desktop, using a browser to look at bsky, and someone has a video in it, I can't click that little expand button. I swear this was fixed, but...

Oggie @oggie.bsky.social · 10/07/2026

Truly a constant comment.

I actually don't really think this needs context, I think it does a damn good job of getting the point across very clearly.

Genuinely I was very curious if this was intentional, because of how it collapsed on my timeline, and..uh, well, yes, it clearly was, because she said so! That's very well done (warning for anyone clicking through, CW for sexual assault stuff, hence the warning + 2 posts).

Random offhand chance, but I'm trying to remember a Dr Who episode- I don't remember much about it, I saw it in the mid 80s on PBS. It had a female companion, and it ended with the doctor telling her that some spark/animal instinct in her (she had been..transformed?) would always be there.

It just occurred to me that so many cheesy schlocky 80s movies (that I love!) are going to be completely impossible to parse for people going through their teen years now, because they will never understand how the heroes could be deceived by the idea of 'benevolent corp' or 'caring government'.

Oggie @oggie.bsky.social · 18/06/2026

At some point everyone should actually take a deep breath and think about why it is steadily becoming more illegal and punishable to purchase something and change it, for yourself. Just an actual deep breath, quiet thought. This isn't a prelude or a specific item, but I am sure you thought of ten.

My bestest girl, who unconditionally loved us her entire life, lost her battle with cancer two weeks ago, very suddenly. We’re absolutely devastated but made so many amazing memories. In between the first photo we ever took and her last photo is a lifetime of love.

First picture of our black and tan Shiba, Navi, as a puppy. Standing on a bed with one sassy paw forward.

Navi’s last photo, waiting patiently on a chair at the vet’s for her chemo appointment. She passed a day later

With the sad news about Anthony Michael Head, I just am curious once again if I am the only one who actually watched and enjoyed Dominion, the sci fi series based on a strange sci fi movie (Legion, 2014). He was excellent in it, but I will be forever confused how it got made, and a second season.

To every game creator: For the love of fucking god, framelock your main menu/title screen/boot screen. I genuinely have no idea how this is like a normal level of complaint, but it's actually insane that games with simple title screens will hit 1k FPS and cause heat issues. Come on now.

I swear there was a really good reason that I read about re: Vivaldi ( as in, not to use), but I cannot for the life of me find it. I am currently mostly using waterfox, but I do like having a few browsers... Oh well, guess I will dive in later today probably.

I've always defaulted to strange phrasings, malapropisms, odd word choices, etc, for a slew of reasons that make sense to me. Some I've had to let go as culture has moved on, or been tainted, but the one that 'makes you sound like a robot' NO LLM will use "I have no data on that" They would never

Gosh I just love it when firefox changes something on a whim. For the past decade+, when I press tab from the address bar, it moved to the search box (which I had to enable, which is fine). But now it moves to the search box highlight, so I have to tab twice to get text to search. Why change shit

I'm not even going to admit how long it took for me to get that the stutter effect in Mixtape was an artistic choice and not a setting error, but 'longer than instantly' (I even recompiled shaders) In other news, attempting to see if my brain can be trained on gyro controls -trying Returnal first

Actual question, there was an entire show where one of the primary mocking targets was trump. I will grant, it wasn't very funny, but why haven't more people made memes out of him in Drawn Together? It ran for a few seasons and spent a fair amount of time on how awful he was...

Random idea- A tv show, or web series, that just has a celeb going all in on a strange hobby or obsession they have. Get them to just completely dive in to their personal hyper fixated thing they just think is great. Tentatively thinking of calling it Weirdo with Donald Glover hosting.

Entirely unrelated to whatever was going on with bsky, I had a complete failure of my dns server (adblock, internal DNS stuff), which amusingly led to me fixing it but feeling like it was still very broken. Still not sure why my more robust rollover solution bombed out but that is a later problem.

I feel a surprising amount of the damage of the internet can be traced back to 'I don't understand this/this is not aimed at me, therefore nobody should be able to engage with it'. Like a ton of people are collectively smarting from not getting an in joke from a long ago, or something.

Sometimes I think about the original top gun, and that there was a statement that Maverick fucked a guy to win a bet before, and most of the straight people just quietly deleted that from their memory.

I have no idea why, but every time I hear a song by Mon Rovîa, my brain immediately classifies it as a 'James Taylor song', though as far as I know they're not covers. Similar vocal style/pacing, I guess? This isn't an insult (though I'm not wild about Taylor, and happen to like Rovia so far!)

A number of not great things have happened over the past few days, but on the bright side, earlier today I got to explain to someone who likes science and space some stuff about the moon landing he just didn't know! I love showing people cool science shit they aren't aware of.

On a personal level, Fuck fuck fuck I genuinely don't know what to do or how to handle this cleanly. It's not critical but it sure isn't good. God I really want to distract myself with a video game or something but those don't really distract me anymore, I gave up drinking....ugh.

Today's random science thought that so many people 'miss': In space, you are not floating. You are falling. By every possible definition. Since everything else is falling, it looks like you're floating, but you're actually falling towards the ground. Orbit is when you miss. Miss well? Stable!

In a rare occurrence, reading a book that's going to be adapted has made me more hopeful for the film. About 60% of the way through Hail Mary which I started on a whim reread because last night I just was struggling with a book that wasn't gelling, and honestly there's a lot to be done here.

I wonder if we can get people to use 'demi-monthly' because we've somehow still, completely, failed to settle on a proper usage for biweekly, and fortnight is both archaic and oddly seems like pandering. So, demimonthly. Unambigious!

Not relevant to anything but I just now looked up the actress playing Bart from Dirk Gently, and it's McKay from the Pitt. Literally watched episodes of each on Friday and would never have noticed, even though I love both characters ( go face blindness I guess). Good for the actress!
