This plays on my mind too. It’s one reason why links in PDF reports or online blogs should, when possible, incl a full citation somewhere, not just the web addr or (worse) a hyperlink hidden under a word. A title & ‘author’ name gives some chance of refinding it if the link breaks or changes…

Rothbury Estate Match Appeal | The Wildlife Trusts
The Rothbury Estate is more than a beautiful place. It's 3,800 hectares of rivers, woodlands, grasslands, peatlands and open moorland, where wildlife still has the chance to thrive at a scale rarely seen in Britain today. Here, otters play in the River Coquet's tributaries. Merlins hunt across the open hills. Heath goldsmith beetles shimmer amongst the heather. Together, river, land and sky create a landscape rich in wildlife, history and potential. But we have one chance to secure it for nature. This August and September, every gift will be doubled, up to £700,000.

Three days to go for @northwildlife.bsky.social to raise £30M to buy the Rothbury Estate. Impressively, they've secured over £27M in donations & pledges. But that still leaves a shortfall. I can only hope they're given more time by the seller. Or that he waives the difference. You can chip in here:

💯 audio! The pure joy for me is listening while doing other things (driving, walking, cooking, cleaning, drawing, sewinging, gardening, staring out window…) & any break from screens = bonus! Or, to listen while doing visual or data tasks on a PC screen. But *watching* pods feels like wasted time 🤷‍♀️

However you do it, getting a date for discussion in your citation will pin the idea to being pre/post any related publications. I don’t think it sounds like anyone would be annoyed by broad statement arrived at by group being mentioned, as you intend to say it was group-derived. Sounds interesting!

EarthworkBec @earthworkbec.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
Oh okay, others may know better, but in your specific case, to me that sounds broad enough just to state. Or simply to say (in better words) that during the event that the author (you) attended interesting group discussions around X concluded with general agreement that… <insert statement>

EarthworkBec @earthworkbec.bsky.social · 24/09/2026
…for an academic group discussion at an event it is trickier. How sensitive or ‘news’are those ideas, are they meant to be shared more widely yet. Definitely check with participants/speakers and maybe frame it carefully with reference to the abstract for the session perhaps 🤔

If I can, the only time I use pers. comm. Is say a tenant farmer telling me what happened on their site in recent past, or if I asked a peer/pal about my research and the gave a great idea/comment. I always include date of the convo, something like (name, pers comm to the author in MM/YYYY)…
