Two things can be true: OpenAI sucks and this guy also sucks, one doesn’t change the other. Also I could be wrong but I think some of these dudes were paid to loudly quit to make the AI doomerism narrative seem more plausible to the public. So that AI companies can regulate out any competitors.

"As funding is diminished, progress will slow or even stop." Probably actually worse than that--failure to transmit useful skills/tacit knowledge/etc. would likely reverse progress in the sciences and other fields of knowledge. The communities of researchers are where the disciplines "live."

I'm getting several of these emails a day now: an AI agent has found my online profile and emailed me a manuscript, trying—poorly—to make a case that the work is somehow central to my research program. More and more of the papers are themselves utter AI slop. DON'T FUCKING DO THIS, PEOPLE.

Russia’s latest attack killed at least 28 people across Ukraine as Trump announced a call with Putin on his birthday. Attacks on Saudi airports killed 3 people. Washington’s language on Iran’s nuclear demands shifted, while WHO pressed Russia for answers about a laboratory worker’s death.

Cost of 1 grad student for 1 year is something like, what, $100k when everything is all accounted for on a grant? So, funding 1,000 grad students. Maybe.

A typical AGU poster session that is crowded as all hell. But now, there's twice as many posters per board, so the amount of space per person is halved. We will be sardines. Every breath will be the gaseous soup coming directly from someone else. The smells will overwhelm. Where there was science, now, only suffering.

Welcome to Infowars.

One thing I find endlessly funny about the rise of AI is that it has revealed that there is a large number of people who believe that the reason they wrote essays at school or university is their teachers were desperately waiting for them to provide a definite answer to “Lear: what’s up with him?”

I refuse to buy stuff if it seems like their photos are fake. It’s false advertising. Admittedly I also feel empathy for really small businesses trying to just…get by. I wonder if they don’t know how to find designers, or if they can’t afford good ones, or don’t trust what they can find.

Anyway--your science (yes *yours*) deserves more than being in some cluttered hell or smashed into a 3-minute lightning talk. Your science is just as good as ours was when we started 15 years ago and we had a full 15 minutes to talk about it and when we had a full poster board to show it.

If it works, that's pretty cool; I didn't think
would ever see this implemented (I also didn't
expect LLMs to exist).
However, this is not something you can PR
here, or anywhere. You sent me a nearly 50k
line diff, unasked for, completely LLM built, and
you somehow expect me to review it. There is
SO MUCH unrelated garbage here. Never
minding all of the docs and Python, you've
somehow touched basically all of the upstream
HDL, which already had MSU1 support, so idk
what in the world you're doing.
This kind of behavior is not acceptable. You are
infringing on the time and brainpower of people
by pushing "your" content that little/no of your
brainpower went into; completely unrequested.
I hope for the sake of all responsible
maintainers that you do not do such a thing
again.
Again, I think it's cool that you and your LLM
supposedly got this to work. It has no place in
my world.
