Hi @robertarnol.bsky.social , I'll see your wombat "mower" yesterday, and raise you a dozen or more wood ducks helping the groundsman at a rugby field in South Rockhampton. #photography #nativebird
A late afternoon photo of some of a dozen or more Australian Wood Ducks dining on the short grass of a rugby field in South Rockhampton, Australia.

There's been too much smoke in the air over the valley of the Fitzroy River, from both bushfires and fuel reduction burns. It's bad from my asthma, but makes for spectacular sunsets, or even pre-sunset landscapes like this one: #photography #smokyatmosphere
The sun shining through a thin layer of cloud, in an extremely smoky atmosphere over Rockhampton, Australia. There are glimpses of the Fitzroy River shining on the ground.

There was a mob of corellas in a Pony club's field, feeding and fooling around as they do. The one in this photo must have thought it picked up a twig ... did a somersault and came up biting it's own foot: #photography #nativebird

Late one afternoon, I spotted this Heron catching snacks, in the water amongst the rocks that gave Rockhampton it's name. It was under the shadows of a bridge across the Fitzroy River. #photography #nativebird #Rockhampton

Another surprise from Yeppen Lagoon, Rockhampton. I don't ever recall seeing Australian Wood Ducks afloat, I've seen some on dry land eating vegetation. There was actually a flock of ~30 birds bobbing around on the water: this photo is a close-up of just 3 of them. #photography #nativebird

A closer look at one of the spoonbills in my previous post, just to prove I wasn't imaging things. Photo has been cropped to centre the bird. #photography #nativebird

I have again been surprised by a species of bird, that I did not know lived in this area: Spoonbill. There were 3 high in a dead tree, along with a heron. Photo taken in South Rockhampton. #photography #nativebird
3 spoonbills and a heron (2nd highest) high up on the branches of a dead tree. There is blue sky behind them and some foliage of another tree in the bottom right corner. The lowest bird has it's head behind the branch.

A late afternoon photo by Yeppen Lagoon, in Rockhampton. I was taking my usual photos of birds perched on a log across the lagoon, when I realised there was one on my side of the lagoon. A little pied cormorant on a branch, silhouetted by late afternoon sun. #phtography #nativebird

My usual aim at Yeppen Lagoon, Rockhampton is to capture the abundant birdlife. But in this instance, the cormorants/darters standing on the log were photo-bombed by passing cattle. #photography #nativebird

@coffeedave.bsky.social This was my photographic experiment a couple of days ago: I (re)found a mobile phone "clip-on lens kit" I bought something like a decade ago, & decided to give it a go with my current phone. Results weren't great, but it was an amusing hour or so. #photography

I was up on Mt. Archer in Rockhampton, taking sunset photos and got a shock when I downloaded the photos, because I had not seen the windmill generators on the horizon. Next day, I took a bigger camera up to the spot to try to get clearer photos! #photography #horizon #sunset

I've just had a call with "important immigration info" for me "press 1 for English, 2 for Chinese". For fun, I pressed 1, said hello, bloke said "Hello" & then spoke Chinese. I replied "It's no good talking Chinese to me" and he hung up. #WellDoneAngus your budget reply gives scammers a new angle.

I just had a phone call from "Telstra technical dept." warning me "my device was running on an open public network" ... next, would have been a warning of "malicious activity". But before she got there, I asked if it was IPV4 or IPV6. She hung up: why can't I have a tech talk with the tech dept? 😔
