When I heard the snap of my trap this morning, I pointedly went out there to ensure the rodent was dead. Sometimes the traps don't quite kill them: I stand on it until they stop wriggling to ensure they die mercifully quickly.

I've just had my annual Diabetes (2) eye check. My distance vision is still fine, they offered me some reading glasses that I declined: I didn't mention to them the large number of magnifying glasses scattered around the house! 🧐

From the angles involved, I'd guess the rider was expecting to blast past the stopped car. He suddenly realises another car is coming, tries to weave in behind the stopped car and ends up with both pillion and bike off balance. Harleys are heavy, if he prepared to stop in the 1st place, it'd be fine

There was only a "ladies lounge" because women were banned from entering the "bar" i.e. the men's drinking room. Once women won the right to go to any part of a hotel, the "ladies lounge" was re-invented as the "beer garden".

There's been too much smoke in the air over the valley of the Fitzroy River, from both bushfires and fuel reduction burns. It's bad from my asthma, but makes for spectacular sunsets, or even pre-sunset landscapes like this one: #photography #smokyatmosphere

I think it's a slightly different angle: if I had to struggle to have all the nice things, you can't have something for free. Add to that the conservative mantra "small government is good government" and you have a considerable degree of "anti government service" and "saving of tax" on any issue.
