Again, let's just stop & remember that age-based legal restrictions on access to social media/online services are a bad idea & infringe the rights of young people to speak, access information and arts & culture, find community and play. Then look at the madness involved in trying to make them work.

Music like all other forms of content creation has been absorbed into the attention economy. It's a question of whether overlord middle men, (e.g. record industry, streaming platforms) etc get more successful at rent seeking or less and I don't know the exact answer to that. But it's probably worse

There's a term for this... Not in My something something. www.marinij.com/2026/09/27/s...
Marin County is poised to move forward with a plan to use a San Rafael hotel as interim housing for homeless residents, despite city opposition.

“I am not supportive of this,” San Rafael Mayor Kate Colin told county officials at a Sept. 17 meeting of the city’s homelessness subcommittee. “I wish it was not in San Rafael.”

As I've been hosting workshops on housing, a point I regularly bring up is desegregation was once a goal, but now its largely forgotten or ignored. Reactions to this have been surprising, but has reaffirmed my belief that desegregation has to be the goal again for housing advocates.

Absolutely scorching endorsement, bringing serious heat for Weiner and against Chan, but a blast furnace at Pelosi for her role in this race and her true reasons for it. Never read an editorial this heated in Chron www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/edit...

Endorsement: Who should replace Nancy Pelosi in Congress? It’s not even a choice
OPINION: The most intriguing thing about the race between Scott Wiener and Connie Chan to fill Nancy Pelosi’s House seat is that it has become a race at all, the editorial board writes.

You can either believe that technology has ruined an entire generations moral character. Or you can believe that relationships increasingly mediated through platforms that sell it's users selfish optimization, will naturally produce more of these horror stories. The former is for boomers. Sorry.

The reason not to triangulate against trans people isn't that it's bad politics (although I believe it is) or unnecessary (although I believe it is). It's because YOU MUST NOT ABANDON THE VULNERABLE TO DEPRAVED PEOPLE WHO WILL DO THEM HARM. If we will, what's the point of anything else we do?

If only the "online left" saw capitalism as a question of attention as much as material production, they would realize that all their favorite people essentially have an industrialist monopoly on the means of attention and would be damned if they ever shared it in any meaningful way.

To my fellow San Franciscan urbanists: if you are feeling jaded at the level of political intransigence of the West Side, please know that even the most car-pilled of people can be won over by good urbanism.
"I wanted to hate the closure. I drive for work and have to go from western Addition to Pacifica area multiple times a week. I always enjoyed taking Skyline and UGH to get home and was so annoyed when it closed. I decided to throw myself into it and start taking my dog with me for adventures at OB. I am so conflicted now because- it’s wonderful. I love it. I don’t mind the commute. I want to hate the closure but…..I just don’t anymore. If there was a way to open both directions from Sloat to Skyline that would be huge. As of right now the Northbound lane from Skylone is open but not Sourhbound. That is weird and not at all useful."
