Like, look, Kobo Plus has really gutted Kobo sales. Or at least I can make that connection with my drop in regular sales on Kobo compared to the regular, lesser income from Kobo Plus, but they don't require exclusivity for basic promotional tools like Amazon. Always better to NOT trust one vendor.

I'd say women should steer clear of these companies for their own safety, but frankly, that's not a solution, nor have they done anything wrong or should they need to adjust their behavior. It's the men at fault in these situations. Awful human beings.

Yeah, any of these men having a neurodivergence used as an excuse for abusive and illegal behavior isn't going to cut it. I feel really bad for these women, but at this point, it doesn't feel safe for these companies to be allowed to continue existing as they are.

Considering how bad visibility has gotten in the age of the slopocalypse on Amazon in particular, their constant refusal to work well with authors has been obvious. If you aren't selling elsewhere as well, my question for you is this: why are you still relying on an unreliable partner?

lol, I'm telling ya. Indie authors love the abusive relationship with Amazon. One of the tools at our collective disposal in the last few years was KDP's price-matching to free. Apparently this weekend most price-matched books reverted to previous pricing without any warning.

I feel like I'm in a weird place at 43 where I grew up without computers until I was 10. Then got the Internet shortly after, and saw everything else develop from then on. Really was optimistic about tech for a long time, but the last ten years? Just dread at watching this technofascism spread.

It's legitimately depressing how much these people despise everyone else and how the whole tech class went from 'hey guys, here's some neat stuff we're cooking up' to 'you didn't make us all powerful, so we're gonna force it, sorry not sorry!'

I should note, it's also deeply rooted in racism and eugenics. Someone like Peter Thiel truly believes that the age of 'competent' white people like him has come again, and so what if they're evil? They're GETTING THE JOB DONE. ... but what's the job, Peter?

I feel like these people have such warped views or reality. I'd rather get a poorly written, unpunctuated email from someone that I know is real than some AI slop that's "professional." This idea that evil competence is better than... the alternative is so dire.

I think this is why I've always been so drawn to writing. I can actually get my point across and be heard without having to worry about the social norms that feel so difficult for me to push through.
