Happy trans day of visibility if that's your thing

That the number of trans people has
increased in the face of such a totalizing
onslaught is not a reason for alarm, nor
should our small absolute numbers be
offered as a reason for calm. It should be
greeted by our friends and our enemies
alike as a testament to our concrete will
towards freedom. It has always been true
that transitioning entails sacrifice and
costs, and it is the goal of advocates and
activists to reduce that cost or, at least,
ensure trans people have the material
defenses, community, and resources to
weather those costs. But in the face of
efforts from the schoolhouse to the White
House to raise those costs, it is no small
assurance that they are utterly.

From this group of women emerged the @transexualmenace.bsky.social. Many have since become victims of social murder or simply passed on, unaware of the storm clouds on the distinct horizon 8 yrs ago. I fight in their honor & my 30 yr commitment to them for saving me from an eventual social murder.

Text says: 1991 NYC Gay Pride march. There wasn't any trans representation at pride and a lot of folks didn't like us being there. We pretty much forced our way in by suggesting to HOP that they could let us march quietly, or first thing on the evening news, nationally, might very well be video of a bunch of angry transpersons being arrested in the middle of the street because they were kept out.

I think we started with only about ten of us, but over the course of the march people just started joining in and marching with us.
