I will entertain £20 records in certain charity shops, usually when they’re well organised or with a semblance of, dare I say, ‘curation’, but I too would only have bought that for a quid. But if I had, I’d probably try and find 19 more for a quid to keep it company 😁

Good score! I only have a few of the Jazz Book Club Series and only one has the funky trumpet artwork, it’s definitely cooler than the stripes!
Music books on a bookshelf, including 3 from the Jazz Book Club Series.

Still marvelling at this beauty. I've been packing up preorders to haul up to the post office tomorrow. Which means some can marvel in their own home. And listen. It sounds like this: danarborise.bandcamp.com/album/of-tid... and can be ordered here: unspunheroes.bandcamp.com/album/of-tid...

Next release on Unspun Heroes looks like this. Two discs of hand-poured translucent marbled vinyl made to look like the tide washing in on a Cornish beach. Preorders are shipping from tomorrow. Officially out on Friday.
A vinyl record that is a mix of blue and green and natural sand colours, marbled when pressed. The centre label has a peach colour around the edge and a seascape scene.

What is the movie that came out before you were born that you've watched the most times?
Two stills from The Italian Job featuring Raf Vallone as the devilishly handsome mafia boss. The text 'Your car?' appears next to the first, with the exclamation 'Pretty car!' next to the second.

Stoneham’s Secret Staple Shame! Would have been a good #vinylsanta candidate otherwise, think there’s a Portishead remix sample on that.

I'm sorry if you've seen this a lot. I think it won't be much longer now. I just wanted to push this fundraiser again, to raise money to help research and cure Lewy Body Dementia. I've said before but even £2 (the minimum) all adds up, no amount is too little, I promise. Thank you.

A photo of the book in hardcover against a wooden background. The cover is a very light peach colour and has illustrations by Adam Beer of: a café in orange, a seagull and a girl with a kite in blue, a green pigeon, pink cow parsley and plastic bags and a yellow origami boat and leaves. The title is The place I’m in ‘WHAT I SEE WHEN I STOP TO NOTICE’ in black letters. It has this quote at the bottom ‘This Book is lovely’ by Philip Pullman.A photo of a double-page spread from the chapter ‘POPPING IN’ against a blue background. The colour of the pages is pink and the text is black and illustrations are in black and white. There are observations by me (the text is too small for most people to read I this image) and a black-and-white illustration on the left-hand page by Adam Beer, of buildings, a shopping trolly, a dog tied up with its lead outside a shop, some peoples’ legs and feet, and people at a gallery looking at a painting of a woman in a black dress.AT THE PARK: A photo of a double-page spread from the chapter 'AT THE PARK'. The colour of the pages is pink and the text is black and illustrations are in black and white. There are observations by me (the text is too small for most people to read I this image) and a black-and-white illustration on the left-hand page by Adam Beer, of a park with runners and trees, a close-up of a bush and a bee near a lavender flower. The right hand page has illustrations of a couple walking in a park from behind, a dachshund on a lead and a woman on a bicycle - facing away from us.BLACK AND WHITE BUILDING: A double page open against a wooden background. I do like a series. I have a few of the Walkman Jazz tapes too (not enough) He hasn’t had a tape deck in his car for years now - ‘I’ll take all the tapes shall I Dad?’ I mean they’ve been in my old bedroom for a decade or more so I think that technically makes them mine anyway right?

Classical #CasSunday with a stack of Walkman Classics. These lived in my Dad’s car for much of the 80s, he used to commute from Kent to the E Midlands on a Monday morning, back again on Friday night. These 83+ minute recordings helped pass the miles - one either side of the Dartford tunnel.
8 cassettes from the Walkman Classics series, Deutsche Gramophone recordings released by Polydor on CrO2 tape in the ‘80s. Close up of Polydor ‘Walkman Classics’ Chromium Dioxide tape edition of Deutsche Gramophone recordings of Brahms Piano Concerto No.2 b/w Schumann Piano Concerto. Cassette case has price sticker from Gatefield Sounds for £3.69. 8 cassettes from the Walkman Classics series, spines facing the camera. These were Deutsche Gramophone recordings released by Polydor on Cr02 tape in the ‘80s. 8 cassettes from the Walkman Classics series, non-artwork sides of the cases facing the camera. A number of them feature the PolyGram logo embossed into their clear cases.

They looked properly old in that clip and from memory at the time without the ‘60s cred that others from the era still seemed to be pulling off in the ‘80s. I was just checking to see how old Alan Clarke was for that performance in ‘88 - 6 years younger than I am now 😳

Amelia & The Housewives’ self-titled debut is pure pop, zero filler
Brighton's Amelia & The Housewives delivered a crisp indie debut on their self-titled album, out now via INH Records. Romance is messy, but the band has found a way to package their post-mortems into bursts of pure pop joy. The album is not just catchy riffs and harmonies though, it's a self-aware dissection of relationship dynamics and their shifts, ego checks, and late summer heartbreak.

Oh yeah we watch plenty of Danger Mouse in this house too - OG and the reboot (which is decent) and so consequently whenever we see an aerial shot of London in a film or TV show one of us has to say ‘LONDON’ in an emphatic David Jason-as-DM-narrator voice.
