I totally agree. Music certainly doesn't get the attention that it did. Spending time to really get to know an album can be rare these days. One of my favorite albums I bought on CD when I was skint and didn't like at first. I listened to it repeatedly until it made sense. Not sure I'd do that now.

It's great that #BandcampFriday exists, we can all make some extra pocket money but I often feel we skip through new music with such regularity really good albums get lost in the rush. We should start going back over releases from recent years and revisit and discover new music that way as well.

In March 2027 it will be 100 years since the UK release of Metropolis. I have a few special gigs lined up where I'll perform my soundtrack whilst screening a rare 1 hour version of the film. Still taking bookings if anyone is interested... See promo clips here: www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/38pjl...

I haven't been on here much! How is everyone? I am having what I've been calling an Autumn Audio Audit, even though it started in the summer. Sorting out all the music and field recordings on my various hard drives, seeing what promising unfinished stuff I have and making lists!

I happened to be in Thailand on Sept 11th 2001, so due to the time difference it was in the evening. I remember seeing people at a Beach restaurant standing close to a telly and could see smoke on the telly. I started watching, was about 2 minutes before the 2nd plane hit. I ordered beer.

Really getting back into 'Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments pt2 EP' by that Dickie bloke. Was well into it when it came out a decade or so ago but not listened for a while. It's so good, a real gem in an already great back catalogue.

RIP William Orbit. I really like Pieces in a Modern Style. I thought it was a nice way to present classical music, washed in a nice ambient and electronic mood. I play it in the car for the kids quite a bit, seem to calm them down www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLtb...

AOTD: @audioobscura.bsky.social's Dream States The mission statement comes from a Duke Ellington sample, but the building blocks come from the same semi-conscious realm that gave us Bill Holt's Dreamies. Music that exists just at the edge of grasping, forever slipping through your fingers.
