Agreed. When my atheist grandfather died, I found a bible in his desk. Pages and verses were marked. I kept it and this atheist still reads it 60Y later, with an open and critical mind. Some of my friends find it odd but I think it's important, particularly given the current context.

Same here. On that fateful Saturday, October 27th, 1962, my mom and dad were talking about it, unaware that I was near and could hear them. I did not really realized what it was they were discussing, until my dad said: "We may not be here Monday". I had nightmares for years.
