#bike2work day was today. I don’t really see this initiative moving the needle on getting more people cycling but I rode my 🚲, because I was going to anyway. It was pouring rain in the morning, and a howling wind in the afternoon. Drivers still wouldn’t give me a break.

City workers usually move fast to dismantle a guerrilla crosswalk or bench, often arriving in a matter of hours. IMO that's part of the activists' power: They show that government *can* quickly change streets—even if it seldom does.

Parking uses land that could also hold housing, a storefront, trees, public space, or more parking. That doesn't make parking bad. It means there are tradeoffs. Good policy gives communities flexibility instead of assuming parking always comes first.

For intersections where cyclists and cars mix, roundabouts IMO are great. It’s like a built in Idaho stop for cyclists and let’s face it, drivers often Idaho stop at four way stop signs anyway plus the red light running. At least the roundabout slows drivers down.

I work in an acute care hospital. Drivers of vehicles are *orders of magnitude* more responsible for closed head injuries, permanent brain damage, and spinal cord injuries etc of all road users. And when the rider of an ebike has these injuries, the responsible party is mostly drivers of a vehicle.
