Hoodoo = culture adapted to American land & politics Conjure = juju based in African religion adapted to American land & politics So Hoodoo may be someone's cultural base but something else may be their juju base. Ya dig?

Hoodoo is use what you have. That's why there differences between lineage and regions. Access to certain sources may not exist where you are so you make do with what you got.

Hoodoo is a birthright to Black Americans (those descendants of chattel enslavement in the US), but it also has to choose you back/it's meant for you to practice in this lifetime. Yes, you can venerate your ancestors (which is ingrained in Black culture), but you may not get access to its Conjure.

Gamefying my life worked well for me today, again. Finished and submitted a small grant. Applied to a job. Went for a walk. The game? Spun a wheel with times varying from 25 to 100 min. Got the number and committed to alloted time to get things done. It worked. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Such an important point. The AI press is designed to re-write the sense of self according to the blueprint of a select few that includes only an anemic view of self agency and determination.

I tried to watch Supergirl today. No dice. I've just never cared for the character which sucks because I've heard in recent years she's had some good character arcs.

The character work remains the strongest part of #Lanterns. John continues to be fantastic, Hal’s presence hangs over the episode, and Guy Gardner is a delight whenever he appears. There’s plenty of humor here, but also some surprisingly emotional moments.

I felt sad for Hal, pissed off at John's family, and also had plenty of laughs during this episode of Lanterns. #lanterns #dclanterns

The 2025 American Community Survey should have come out today. But it has been delayed because of unusual political encroachment at Census. ACS drives business and policy decisions, especially in local communities, and is the primary input to Census’s immigration estimates.

People are upset about Kin not being longlisted for National Book Awards Fiction. I currently have it on audio & will be getting the nominees of the longlist from the library. I already have 4 on hold via audio & will be going to the library tomorrow to request the others. Let's see the competition.

I can’t speak to Jasmine Crockett. But I will say that I’ve noticed that grown Black women who still champion Chris Brown seem to frame themselves not just as fans, but as his protectors. He’s 37 years old but somehow gets to be a “rough around the edges” teen heartthrob who needs to coddled.

Microsoft Publisher could have been a good Adobe Indesign alternative if they never stopped paying attention to it. And they're retiring it in October. So... yeah. Eh.
