Wide shot of the BRITISH MUSEUM. There are suggestions of fascism around the streets - tanks, barricades, an Orwellian 'Big Brother'-style poster on a wall. A voice of a TOUR GUIDE emanates from the museum:

TOUR GUIDE:
So the Tapestry tells acrucial chapter of our nation's history...

2
[Cut to interior of museum. A long Bayeaux-style TAPESTRY is on display, and the Tour Guide is speaking to a tour group]

TOUR GUIDE [smiling]:
How modern fascist Britain was created.

3
TOUR GUIDE:
The Tapestry begins here with the 2008 Crash, then austerity, then the AI Crash...

4
TOUR GUIDE:
...and by the end of the room it's just full-on fash.

5
CHILD IN TOUR GROUP [gesturing to the tapestry]:
What's this middle bit?

TOUR GUIDE:
This is the 2026 Battle of Legitimate Concerns

6
TOUR GUIDE:
[show a reporter standing next to the Dover protests]
Here's the media saying the government have got to do something about the legitimate concerns...

7
CHILD:
...About the failure of capitalism?

TOUR GUIDE:
No about brown people on boats

8
CHILD:
[pointing at boats crossing the sea on the tapestry]
Are these boats the mega-dinghies?

TOUR GUIDE:
Not all of them

9
[we see one of the boats is a giant yacht]
TOUR GUIDE:
That one's a superyacht,
carrying money from the American fascists to the British ones.

10
TOUR GUIDE:
You see really it's as much a story of convergence as it is of conflict.

[An alarm sounds in the museum]
DING DING DING DING

11
TOUR GUIDE:
Ok, tour over everyone

12
TOUR GUIDE:
It's time for the Two Minute Hate!

[They all leave the museum]

[ends]

Just The Spectator channeling the Reform/Restore line that they're hiding their faces because they fear retribution from the establishment. Next up, why do criminals routinely wear masks and hoodies?
The Spectator

A balaclava on a British street is a small declaration: I do not want you to know who I am.

Last weekend, that declaration was made in Dover and Portsmouth, where hundreds of men, many dressed head-to-toe in black, turned out against the arrival of migrants by small boat: road blockades, walkie-talkies, faces covered.

That should worry us. There is no democratic entitlement to intimidate the public, assault police officers or obstruct emergency services.

But Westminster should be interested in something beyond the spectacle: why do these men believe they need to hide their faces in the first place?

"This uncertainty about the human provenance of text is an incalculable loss"
This uncertainty about the human provenance of text is an incalculable loss. In both classical and Christian philosophy, the human being was distinguished by his unique relationship to the word. Machines that have command of language are therefore nothing like the mere next step after the microwave and the calculator. The idea that for the rest of my life I will never know for sure if a text was written by the human who claims it or by a machine saddens me greatly, and I suspect this reality will cast a pall over all our lives once it sets in more generally. As things stand, we will face, every day, a task presented to us that no previous human ever could have contemplated: the task of sussing out whether the text we are looking at had a human behind it. This is a huge “transaction cost” that our new technology has imposed on us all, an unwelcome introduction of doubt and wariness and suspicion into the fundamentals of our life together that will only reduce trust and increase atomization.

AI Refusal Statement
I did not use generative AI at any point in the production of this book or presentation, including the literature review, writing, editing, translation, organization, or any other task (e.g. brainstorming). To the extent that it is possible to know, I did not cite any studies that used generative AI.
Justification: GenAI technology is based on stolen labor, anti-solidarity between workers, class exploitation, structural racism, misogyny, environmental injustice, and climate destabilization.
