Horror famously has resurgences in times of crisis. There was a boom after the First World War, Hammer Horror films of the 50s and 60s were made by war veterans. The bleak 70s and 80s made zombies and Threads. Obviously everything is fine now so this theory falls apart. Forget I said anything.
