I write the monthly newsletter for the UKCBC - @ukcrimebookclub.bsky.social I've just had to reject a submission because they've used an AI cover. I don't ever like to turn down an author, that's not what I'm about...

As a Nuneaton fan I’ve a lot of experience of crooked owners of football clubs who think they’re capable of beating the rules. More than most I’d wager. So despite my Utd leanings, I’ve a lot of sympathy for those City fans who are suffering because of this.

I love a round number, so thrilled to hit 400 reviews for The Regulators, and it's still sitting pretty at 4.2 stars on Amazon, which basically means I'm not totally shit. Link below if you want to find out for yourself.

Blokes spend far too much time hurting and either not knowing how to deal with it or letting the pain of that hurt crush them. You're never alone in that situation lads. Honestly. Find someone to reach out to. You might surprise yourself. But please, don't give up. www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...

Frustrating again to hear pundits & commentators not know the rules, twice in quick succession. 1st classing a half time change as a sub window. It’s not. Secondly calling for Spurs to try and play offside from a goal kick. You can’t be offside from a goal kick. People on TV should know these rules.

Fuck me. I’ve cried a lot of times in the cinema this year. The Oasis doc is just phenomenal. Pure elation. Took me right back to those moments last summer.

How has it been 25 years, a quarter of a century, since I went to university? HOW?!? I am still young. This shouldn't be mathematically possible.

TIL that in the case of a tie in the charts, the song that has grown its sales by the most is awarded the higher spot. Thanks to TOTP 1990 for sending me down a Google rabbit hole to find out this is why (but not actually what happened in the end) The Joker beat Groove Is In The Heart to top spot.

It's hard to process that it's been 25 years since 9/11. For those of us who remember that day, life changed irrevocably from then, whether we were directly affected or not. I don't think the west has ever recovered. Thoughts as ever with those who were lost or lost someone that day & beyond.

If this is what we turn AI too, meaningful, life affirming and prolonging, beneficial to humanity tasks, then no-one has a problem with AI. The problems come when we use masses of resources on cheap tricks, theft and subverting trust. AI can be a tool for good, or it can be a tool for bollox.
