I love how The Atlantic exempts certain arguments from editors and fact checkers. "Boom for shop-class specialists" is, ahem, a stretch. Those fields are anemic except for construction, where it's at least been growing since early 2021 but nothing like the actual "booms" of the 1990s & 2010s.

Wow Damien. That makes a LOT more sense. This sounds very difficult, and now fits my first point (you can’t take that RV as gospel) If your ETCO2 is relatively low (and not needing a lot of sweep to do so) that would support poor transpulmonary flow

Simple answer: you probably can’t as loading conditions all over the place Practical answer: On VV you want RV to work as a conduit delivering ECMO flow to lungs If po2 is OK RV probably works enough More complex answer: RV strain and TAPSE/PASP ratio

The oldest patient in 🇯🇵 placed on ECMO at time of cardiac arrest (ECPR) to survive with a favorable neurological outcome? 90. Those age >75 have lower risk of favorable outcome, but may not be complete contraindication #ELSO2026
