I love the quakers. I’ll never forget falling into a deep depression in college while researching anti-slavery arguments (yes, the ANTI arguments) from the 18th century and feeling utterly aghast at their inhumanity. But the quakers (Elias Hicks) showed up with modern-feeling moral sensibility.
