Beat Fortune's Weave at just around the 150 hour mark. That is a lot of game. While I'm glad to put it down for a while, I'll be looking forward to whatever DLC eventually comes out for it.

I'm fascinated by the implication that a large number of presumably young adults think the writers of a toy cartoon are the ones deciding what to name the toys.

RE: HE MAN, SHE-RA STUPID NAMES...

Well I had to use the names Mattel gave me to use... I was onyl able to re-christen She- Ra herself (as I explained)... But Man-E-Faces and such were all Mattel action figures, much the same way we are stuck with whatever names Hasbro comes up with for Beast Wars...

This is par for the course when writing toy-based shows...

I can't find a source for this off-hand, but in terms of his bona fides, I believe he's done E>J translation work professionally and he's perfectly conversant IIRC, so I'm personally not worried about AI usage, especially since it's meant to be reference material for a proper J>E translation later.

Today I learned that the horse Trombe ("tornado") in Super Robot Wars OG wasn't based on Char's horse from CCA, and was instead based on Ryo Sakazaki's horse from Art of Fighting 2, whose name is Tatsumaki (also "tornado").

Summoner in FF14 is relaxing because I can just push buttons and as long as I've pushed all of my buttons by the time my big button refreshes, I'm basically playing optimally. (Or so I choose to believe as a casual; I retired from high-end raiding during ARR)

Remember the old 2000s fansub days, when groups would race to get subs out so that they'd be the first and get the most viewers even if it meant tons of preventable errors? Or how some groups would pick a neglected series/genre, produce a slapdash, low-effort TL, then go "It's better than nothing"?

This is accurate. It's also true for Evangelion, and most of all for JoJo. When I talk about it with colleagues, I often equate Gundam in JP to Star Wars in EN. Someone translating English media into other languages should probably be able to spot common Star Wars quotes and references at a glance.

I first played RE4 in 2023 and instantly fell in love with Leon's character. But apparently, when the OG came out, some fans blamed the EN translation for changing his character. In this month's blog, I set out to uncover if this was truly the case. annacairistiona.wordpress.com/2025/11/19/d...

Did Resident Evil 4’s English Translation Really Butcher Leon’s Character?

A huge part of the original Resident Evil 4’s charm lies in its dialogue. Its script is chock-full of corny one-liners and cheesy comebacks, courtesy of its wisecracking protagonist, Leon S. Kenned…
