"At Broadview, if it weren’t for the people who continued to show up and demand [answers], these lawsuits wouldn’t have been available, wouldn’t have been possible,” Rep. Delia Ramirez told the crowd. She represents Illinois’s 3rd District and serves on the congressional committee overseeing the Department of Homeland Security.

“The reason the judge was able to force [Border Patrol chief Gregory] Bovino to come to court and wear a body camera is because of the work that you do every single day,” Ramirez said. “Give yourselves another round of applause. You are holding them accountable. You are the justice."

"Schumer and Jeffries...should be voted out of office." www.nybooks.com/online/2026/...
What will it take to replace the Democratic Party leadership, or at least convince them that the scale of this crisis calls for more than proposals to add to ICE’s training budget?

In due course Schumer and Jeffries will face primaries and should be voted out of office. In the meantime, we have no option but to keep applying maximum pressure to ensure that they do not follow their deepest inclination, which is to pursue a kind of pro forma politics of liberal opposition while they collaborate with the Republicans. The likes of Senator Chris Van Hollen should warn Schumer that, if he does not whip against funding ICE, they will leave the Democratic caucus and identify as independents.
