Rehab to where? Ontario mayors want to force people into treatment without giving them somewhere to live
The Ford government is considering involuntary addiction treatment while people asking for help wait months for voluntary care — and supportive housing waits stretch into years

There are a lot of #MunicipalElections taking place in Canada right now. Remember, if the candidate claims they are low tax & they are not advocates for cycling & transit they are either ignorant or lying to you. No mode of transportation costs us more than roads for cars & trucks.

Jaywalking a completely American construct, based on industry lobbying, which doesn't exist in law in UK. We are free to run into traffic wherever we like (except motorways). But pedestrian casualties are lower here because drivers have to take responsibility.

If walking costs you $1, we all pay $0.01. If biking costs you $1, we all pay $0.08. If bussing costs you $1, we all pay $1.50. If driving costs you $1, we all pay $9.20. Via study that still underestimates climate cost. This isn’t about choice. It’s about who pays for your choice. #citymakingmath

Pierre Poilievre once called counter-tariffs Canada’s ‘only tool’ in the U.S. trade war. Now his Conservatives say it’s not that simple
After more than a year of trade turmoil, Conservatives are now insisting that Mark Carney owes Canadians an explanation for what derailed a potential trade deal with the Americans last

I’m all for saving money. But this all comes from the wrong place: deferring infrastructure investments is a quick way to kick the can down the road. In 20 years these politicians won’t be here but you’re failing pipes. Roads and community centres will be. And that’s when the bills will be due 1/

To create a truly great people-place, it starts with removing the vehicles, to make room for everything else a GREAT STREET can offer. But that’s not NEARLY enough — it’s not just what you remove, it’s WHAT YOU ADD! Things that are magnetic, that attract people, and entice them to stay a long time.

“The question is not whether #ClimateChange caused the heatwave, but how much hotter and more dangerous heatwaves have become because of GHGs, primarily from burning fossil fuels.” “The missing words in the climate conversation are not human-caused climate change, but fossil fuel emissions.”

‘Was this heatwave caused by climate change?’ – we’re asking the wrong question
Instead of asking whether climate change caused a heatwave, we should ask how much hotter it became because of fossil fuel emissions.
