Apropos of nothing. In early-90s a colleague who was an amateur astronomer was observing in the Vale of Belvoir to avoid light pollution when surrounded by armed soldiers from Old Dalby base. They thought he was IRA about to fire a mortar. Take care when behaving unusually near military bases.

There will always be policies of your party you disagree with. It's not a resigning issue, but I don't agree with Lib Dem leadership on cutting fuel tax. It would be better to use this money to improve public transport / active travel & transition away from imported oil.

Seeing loads of messages about friends' kids, many I've known since they were babies, who have done brilliantly at A levels, now off to study at uni. Today's teenagers work harder under much higher pressure than my generation did. They are the reason to be optimistic about the future.

I broke my 5 years cycle commute record last night at 53:19 (usually takes ~60mins) via longer route route that uses Wilford Bridge. This maximises segregated routes (only 35% of 19.7km route). Notts CC have built a cycle route beside ring road south of the Trent (driving via ring-road is ~16km)

Central London is a much nicer city to spend time in than it used to be because of huge reductions in vehicle numbers and road speeds. The reduction in pollution is very welcome, but so is reduced noise and ease of crossing roads. EV are great. But cities aren't ideal places for any vehicle.
