$Moxxie (huge gen ai hater) posts about her passion project saying "Here's a thread of my passion project that's been in the works for a year and a half now! Showing all of the behind the scenes and design choices!" With multiple pictures of the game she's been developing and how she made it (while also talking about how she's against gen ai and it would never go into her creative work). Comments: Misinformationhater67420 with the profile picture "I love reading" comments: "EW this game uses ai GROSSSSSSSS". This is based on real encounters where I've been accused of using ai on my game despite all of my behind the scenes photos and multiple ways of proving it wasn't while also having it written everywhere on the game that "No gen ai was used". However the people who accuse me of it have also never played the game themselves and just saw it from a youtuber so they're just quick to jump to conclusion on anything that looks out of the ordinary to them instead of actually doing research ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ basically what I'm saying is learn to read and do research before saying things because you "think" they're true.$

Videogames as an artform have a problem with nostalgia. Not that people shouldn’t have nostalgia. Or that games shouldn’t draw from the past. But instead the weight we give to nostalgia.

When people go back to enjoy old games, we assume it’s a nostalgia thing. Do people assume that with books? Or movies? Or music? People certainly do go back in time with those mediums for nostalgia! It happens! I know when my sister is listening to certain cheesy old boyband pop or punk she’s often having a musical nostalgia trip! That’s cool! But we still don’t ASSUME, CONSTANTLY thats why people go back to stuff.

People like old stuff because it’s cool and interesting. It’s historic. People go watch Metropolis still, but how many people alive could even be nostalgic for a movie like that?

I almost want to see the word Nostalgia excised from discussions about video games – not because nostalgia is bad but because we over use it to the point where it’s actually harmful I think.

I mean I made IWBTG and am making an NES style game right now and even for me, the obsession with ‘nostalgia’ seems crazy.

Old stuff is cool. I know this because I see a lot of you kids on my tumblr feed talking about games I know you didn’t grow up with. It’s like finding your parents record or CD collection. Thinking the primary greatness of old games is bringing back memories of eating cereal and playing games on a saturday morning is a great injustice, even if those memories for some are perfectly worthwhile things.

treating my burnout by designing new weird women

Why I think modern AAA graphics have been lame for awhile: 7th gen consoles is when realism stopped being a "skill" and became an affordable luxury. With gen 6, the developers needed talent to squeeze out as much detail, which meant a lot of thought and effort had to go into the visuals of a game.

Holly shields their face from the radiant star sword, slowly inching closer to its hilt.
The snowman thinks to themselves as they approach, "She always finds a way to get what she wants."
"Even if I don't understand."
Holly grasps the star sword firmly. "Someone must act,"
The star sword explodes with radiant magic while Holly holds tight, "In her stead."
Holly's visage shifts in the dark while someone shouts their name.
"WAKE UP!"
The dream disappears and we find Holly laying in their bed of snow.

"HOLLY DAY!" A voice shouts off screen while the snowman wakes up.
Holly opens their eyes and squints, still shaking off sleep. Two snowmen stand over them.
A snow-puppy looking creature with floppy leaf ears, wearing a knit hat and scarf scowls at Holly, "Hey numbskull is your head on backwards?!"
"We're rescuing you!"
Holly snaps awake, embarrassed, and throw their mittens up in alarm. A rugged scarred snowman with an icicle nose smiles, "'Ey bud."

Holly, still frazzled looks to their left to see the swordsman snowman. "BERG?"
Berg replies casually, "That's me."

Holly looks to their right and frowns, "Garland." They meet eyes with the knit cap snowbold who scrunches up their nose in response.
Berg gestures his frozen hand towards the camera, "Frozetta's handling the interlopers."
Holly asks, "The who?"
We see Iron Prince caught in the clutches of a giant snowy fist. Sindri is pinned to the ground half buried under a second hand made out of snow. Holly shouts, "What the heck are you doing?!" Sindri gasps, "Gah, we were ambushed kid!!"
Frozetta, a snowman witch dressed in a cloak holds her claws out towards the pair, keeping them both pinned. She squeaks, "Hi, Holly."
Frozetta continues, "These vagabonds say you led them here. Is that true?"

Holly looks worried. They clutch their aviator cap in their paws, "Yeah but, there's been a misunderstanding!"
They plop their hat onto their head. "These two are my friends!"
