GOP Sen. Thom Tillis privately tore into Trump in texts obtained by Politico:
Graphic featuring Donald Trump on the left and Republican Sen. Thom Tillis on the right, with two large iMessage-style text bubbles attributed to Tillis overlaid across the bottom. In the first message, Tillis tells Trump that Trump “NEVER” threatened him with a primary challenge, says Trump may have him confused with other Republicans he has threatened, and adds that if Trump had threatened him directly, he would have told him to “fck yourself” and immediately announced his retirement. He ends, “Save those threats and head games for cowards and fools.” In the second message, Tillis writes, “I still want to help but I don’t take this bullsht from anyone, including you Mr. President,” adding, “Save that sh*t for the cowards who don’t care if you fail. I care if you fail and right now we are failing.”

@oliverdarcy.bsky.social with another scoop filled report AND a brutal reality check on how Bari Weiss' terrible year at CBS News cost likely her the CNN job...at least for now. www.status.news/p/paramount-...
To be clear, Ellison not tapping Weiss to lead CNN at the deal's close is a brutal indictment of her tenure at CBS News, which has been defined by record-low ratings, serious accusations of editorial interference, trouble recruiting high-profile names to the network, a series of self-inflicted wounds, and a mountain of bad pressto go along with it. Had Weiss performed well, she would likely be on the cusp of adding CNN to her remit as soon as next week. That she will have to wait at least a while longer indicates that even the Ellisons, at the very least, have reservations about her leadership.
Until recently, the plan had always been to give Weiss editorial oversight of CNN. But after a summer of disastrous headlines triggered by the anti-"woke" opinionator's radical overhaul of "60 Minutes," Ellison cooled on his enthusiasm for her, as Statuspreviously reported. That doesn't mean, however, that she is out forever. It's very possible that Ellison—who is closely aligned with The Free Press founder on editorial matters—still believes Weiss is the person he ultimately wants overseeing his news division. It could simply mean he believes she needs to find her sea legs and mature as an operator. Putting at least another year between her and CNN could, in his eyes, give her the time to grow into the role.
