My mothers obsession with keeping her refuse bin clean has reached its logical conclusion: she doesn’t want to put rubbish into it anymore.

There is without question a global campaign to demonise and weaken Muslims. It’s horrific. But it’s having an opposite effect. It’s bringing Muslims together. I have never felt more connected and obligated to my faith or my Muslim community.

Who controls our news? They set the agenda & then all the main TV channels follow. They've obviously given up on Farage/Reform and are now back to the Tories. Needs investigating. They have caused Brexit, acceptance of austerity & Boris.

Who is controlling the news? First they built up Farage/Reform, now that they realise he may be a dud, they're going back to Tories & building up Kemi.

“Whether policies, polls or performances, the gulf between the reality I think I inhabit and the world according to Kemi seems almost inconceivably enormous, and yet so complete is her belief in her own brilliance that I frequently find myself checking whether my own memory of events is accurate.”

It's so weird, they don't trust the elections they've been winning? They think the democrats are cheats or Trump is? His cheating is so obvious. These people must be really dumb. Also are Dems naïve & trust mid terms where Trump is already cheating?

@nickwallis.bsky.social You should listen to The Rest is Politics Leading episode with Ben Wallace. Something seriously wrong at the Treasury, aren't they the ones that okayed public money to take postmasters to court?

If you're relying on the census, that's every 10 years,it does not highlight those that were coming, going, staying from the EU for less? So Burnhams point stands.

I thought that freedom of movement meant it was tricky to know exactly who lived here from the EU and how often they went home.

Selina @dossymoore.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
When we were in the EU did we have the numbers for those coming and going to and from the EU? Could we quantify people like my Polishand and Italian friends who worked here, but whose families lived abroad?

Selina @dossymoore.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Don't agree with you at all, sounds like both quantifiable & anecdotal info. I knew of Polish people that used to come & go- guys who worked here, but whose families lived in Poland. I think if you're coming from much further, it's more difficult to do that.

From 7 @lbc.co.uk: Burnham blames Brexit for dividing Britain. Can the rift be healed? Tories want to deport 40k foreign law breakers - but what if we get British crooks deported from foreign jails by return? And will Labour’s Nature Restoration Fund do anything to restore nature? 📞0345 6060973 x

Not helped by our completely useless culture secretary, only in post for Labour factional reasons, who never bloody asserts herself, currently snoozing through BBC charter renewal. How she kept her job in the post-Starmer reshuffle is completely beyond me.

Sort out RW BBC news bias, get rid of the GB news people who run BBC news. You are in the gov, so something about it. Also, get tax money from the tech bro billionaires that operate in the UK rather than council tax (not) mansions.

And yet she can't persuade her own colleagues and government to get the eff off X 🙄
ulture Secretary Lisa Nandy branded Elon Musk’s X “disgusting” for swerving a summit about social media attacks on the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. She fumed to the Electoral Dysfunction podcast that while other firms took part, X failed to turn up or even reply to the invite. “I think it says a lot about how they see their — well, how they don’t see that they [have] a moral and social set of responsibilities to us all.”

Can we add ‘a ban on political donations’ to ‘electoral reform’, ‘rejoining the EU’, ‘wholesale reform of the tax system’, ‘presenting immigration as a force for good’ & ‘properly regulating the internet in general & social media in particular’ to the list of ‘things people I like want?’

Utter disaster, as the UK emters the American age of political fund-raising. If the country fails to harness this situation and treat it like a genuine crisis, our democracy will be in deep, deep trouble.
