Coming this November, to a Civic Hall near Union Square NYC. In a world where AI claims to do it all, what are designers left to do? And fun fact, I don't mention AI once in the talk. Call it a palette cleanse. www.evolvedigital.com

Since I have an old Rabbit R1, I wanted to try and turn it into a smartphone. It runs Android and has a sim slot after all. Anyway, ended up bricking it so that was fun. All the sketchy github releases don't make it worth the trouble.

Apparently, my personal account for Twitch has been livestreaming 0 data for about 16 hours. I know exactly know it has happened but I'm too lazy to stop it from the source. If this was YouTube I could stop the stream easily from the web interface, but for some reason Twitch doesn't let you. 🤷

Is there really no way to get back to the legacy @codepen.io behavior now? The settings are also all over the place so I can't find anything. Luckily, I'm able to fork old pens to get the editor back to how it used to be.

The US Web Design System is load-bearing infrastructure for thousands of government websites. It makes it easy for small teams with no resources (i.e. most .gov teams) to make usable, accessible websites that work for everyone. Today, it's as close as it's ever been to being replaced with AI slop.

Hey, Don't use "because accessibility" as your scapegoat. If it's for accessibility explain how. Describe the kind of person it was designed for and what need it is addressing. Thanks.

This is pretty cool. I suspect you'd still need to wrap it, so it isn't visible to assistive technology because it'll read like junk. But interesting if you need a quick chart. Might be good for presentations. franktisellano.github.io/datatype/

"Donnie, didn't you just redesign your site last month?" Yes, but that part of the work was focused on fixing the IA. I kept the design minimal knowing that I'd come back to it later. Well, later was last weekend and it's now really fancy. 💅 donnie.damato.design

AI can't do this. Critical thinking is uniquely human work, and it gets more valuable the more AI does everything else. I’ve spent my career writing the guidelines other people design within, so I know exactly what happens when someone feels those rules get in the way. Subscribe for when it's live
