I’ve spent so long being super organised on my managed machine’s Teams & connected calendar setup with email as an absolute last resort, going back to email for work messages is super disorienting 😅 Cleanup time I think. I’m trying Mailbird again as my primary client since Spark didn’t work for me.

ADHD life – just out of an art shop and I almost spent £75 there on a (really!) nice mushroom paint by numbers book with detachable pages you can hang afterwards and a full set of acrylic paints to go with it; but decided to be sensible and sleep on it for a bit first. Now that’s growth 😄

Aw best thing about an end to a long(ish) term project is all the nice feedback that you get. A new recommendation just landed on LI 💚

Dom took on a large organisation with extremely guarded viewpoints and through focused, engaging User Research, challenged the prevailing narrative. This made people wake up to the value of good User Research and changed the way new work was approached for the better.

Me & partner have been watching 7 up from start (at 42 up for now). He’s had to put up with me throwing abuse at the director breaking most of the rules of good safeguarding & ethical ethnographic practice + interviewing. Just complete apparent lack of reflexivity, unless he meant to be the villain.

Lovely final show & tell of usability & accessibility testing with my team today that I’ll be leaving tomorrow. I often say I prefer the messy strategic research end of the scale & it’s true, but it’s still great to spend some time making sure interactions sing for people; esp. with assistive tech

I still find it really, really strange how enjoyable writing reports is on ADHD meds. Just… systematically going through all the findings & telling a story. It’s not just the meds I ken; it’s also knowing how to create focus tunnels. But still. It’s nice not to have to work myself up into a frenzy 🫠

It’s my last full week of my current contract, so I’m off to the Edinburgh office to collaborate with a UX colleague who just moved there. The nicest part of a full remote arrangement is that in-person days feel *intentional* and create a nice change of pace rather than being a burden & focus killer

As an antidote to all the discourse, I’m off to finally rewatch Tarkovsky’s Stalker in the cinema after about a 14 year gap. 3 hours of the Zone and an elusive meditation on the human 🥰 hope I find it as impactful as the first time. At worst it’ll be visually stunning

I absolutely despise the taste of Lemsip but I do like a wee hot toddy so this cold, I’m experimenting with mixing the honey & ginger Lemsip with some extra honey and a good measure of whisky. And you know what? It’s very drinkable. I’d add some extra ginger if I had it.

ADHD titration update! I’ve been on 36mg Concerta for over 10 days now so may be enough to make the call. I’ll ask my prescriber tomorrow to be lowered to 27mg. The brand change has definitely helped in that the first & last hour are gentler now with no crash, but the dose may still be too much.

All types of tea come from the same plant. There isn’t a ‘green tea plant’ or a ‘oolong tea plant’; you could technically make (almost) any tea you want from the very same bush, by picking & processing the leaves or stems differently. That’s also why to be pedantic ‘herbal teas’ are called tisanes
