If we do not immediately eliminate the death penalty in the United States we are not only a barbaric nation but a willfully vicious and bloodthirsty one with a "pro-life" court whose hypocrisy puts Robespierre to shame.

Go back 20 years: Tony Blair is fighting the battle that will end his leadership and get him ousted, insisting that the 2006 Lebanon war is a principled battle for freedom - US crank Condoleeza Rice says it’s “the birth pangs of a new Middle East”. The UN ceasefire vote looks like this.

Over the past two weeks, I’ve been following the attempts to smear the Jane Doe in the Cornell University gang rape case and redirect blame from the seven fraternity men onto her. As usual, this campaign is built on a mountain of lies and misogyny. spitfirenews.com/p/cornell-ja...

I see people confronted with facts like this become apoplectic and say that they simply won't follow the law, they'll do whatever they want, etc, etc. Yet none of them think through the implications of what they're saying: that the law is completely dead and there is no longer a country.

The mainstream conventional wisdom in both cases is that people who are anti-AI or pro trans marginalized themselves by being too far outside the mainstream. My alternative hypothesis is that both trans activists (particularly mainstream adjacent orgs) and anti-AI people were too easy to ignore.

There is no dialogue with the Sensible Moderates: they are *not listening to a word you say*, and they never have listened to anything you said. When you speak, they are only thinking about their next smart retort, and they only ever hear a noise like a cow mooing or Donald Duck throwing a tantrum.

I’d add: they don’t act like this because they think we are too extreme or idealistic or impractical. They behave like this because *they think we are inferior people*, that we are beneath them socially, intellectually and morally, and so they are fully justified in doing whatever they want to us.

None of these people regard the left as a legitimate political actor; they will not tolerate us weilding any kind of power over them; they see us as a problem to be defanged, stomped and marginalised in a way they would never do to e.g. Nigel Farage.

It is the same shit as it was in the 2010s: every demand to concede on point (x) will be followed by point (y), (z), (a1) and on and on, because *we are not working together for a reasonable outcome*. The entire point here is: fuck you, shut up, fuck off, keep quiet, don’t make me tell you again.

There is no version of Britain that invites a left wing Green Party into government then pushes for arrest warrants for senior Israeli war criminals. Any step in that direction is one step closer to e.g. David Lammy getting arrested at Malaga airport in 2032, before we even consider the US response.

I’m sorry, but this is a fantasy. The *entire point of all this* for ten years has been 1) Absolutely fuck you, the left does not get any kind of power, ever, 2) We will do and say literally anything, whatever it takes, to ensure this never happens and 3) Britain does what America wants, full stop.

Let me try this once more.
It was a choice.
EITHER the Greens adopted a slogan.
OR they could have joined the next govt, where they could push for an end to arms sales, sanctions, support for the arrest warrants etc.
It was never going to be both.
Which one makes a material difference?

Some people here don't seem to have understood the purpose of a political party.
It's not the same as a protest movement.
It is a vehicle designed to get into
government, to change legislation and make a material difference to the lives of people at home and abroad. 2/2
