isnt this true for early adopters of most technologies? I recall a lot of early docker adopters built out there own orchestration prior to swarm and basically cut off their ability to update.

I never got _great_ results with Cinestill unless I was shooting at light sources. I shot some 4x5, the density gave a little more clarity to play with contrast but not enough to offset the cost. But the 35mm never really clicked for me.

UPDATE: SCP Foundation have posted a statement saying they were not consulted or contacted about the A24 SCP project. scp-wiki.wikidot.com/statement-on...
Statement On V/H/S SCP Foundation Film

The staff and authors of the SCP Foundation Wiki (the real-life writing project behind the SCP Foundation universe and its official home) were not consulted or contacted regarding this film. We have been attempting to contact the filmmakers but haven't yet been successful. To be clear: we have not had any communication with the filmmakers, producers, or distributors for this project, despite our best efforts, and to the best of our knowledge they have not made any efforts to contact us. Furthermore, A24 does not and cannot have any exclusive rights to anything related to the SCP Foundation, including any films that Spooky Pictures or anyone else may choose to create.

platforms will always make a soup out of themselves

Zach's general point is good, but LLMs are not that thing that caused this: the mass availibility of uncurated media on platforms has existed prior to LLMs. We are just in a constant trend of "1000s of channels, nothing to watch." LLMs might accelerate that somewhat, but the trend is long running.

on the flip side, there is no "music era" as described here. There has always been more music than one person can listen to just as there has always been more games than anyone can play. Actual issue is that we rarely have so much access to so much of it.

was attempting to double check a @politico.com articles claim that half of Americans use chatbots. of course the study they site is paywalled but pew seems to have asked the question with roughly the same results but upon looking closer at the numbers... like come on
a pew research result claiming half of all Americans use AI but the actual survey shows that only 100 peoples answers were used to make this conclusion.

Double Fine's docs have some close interviews with modelers. And i know Supergiant Games put out a bunch through conference talks (there is one recently covering their switch from using models baked as Bink Videos to actual 3D models).

Not particularly exhaustive, but The WoW Diary has some details of how world of warcraft's model system was set up (like shared uvs for armor). The doom engine book also has stuff about the level geometry, but I don't think it covered production per-say.

I am really excited to see what the postmortem talks are going to be on this "single 9's" era of GitHub. I have been getting this error for a day and for the life of me I can't imagine how Github could still serve a webpage if this was a problem:

I don't love to say this, but I think Jai's delineation is a much simpler version of what comptime languages are trying to achieve.

This is also one of the reasons I bounced from LISP. The macro stuff is cool and extremely powerful, but one of the reasons Racket is popular* is the language-directive nudges a model of separating language-level concerns from programming logic. (* for a lisp)

I know certain language get _close_ to having them be the same, but having to keep a mental model running of "is the like I am reading a runtime behavior or a comptime action" is a fairly significant cognitive load. C++, as usual, is the worst at this (sort of soured reflection imo).

Mild programming rant: I really find compile-time stuff being in-file as opposed to part of the build system to be the wrong direction. In practice it appears to create two DSLs within a language: one for runtime, the other for comptime.

Its certainly not a perfect film, but flattening the entire thing in a "war is hell" movie and wishing there was more vivid depictions of a city being sacked leaves more questions about the critic than answers about the movie.
