anyway thank you @theswweet.myatproto.social for posting about Village in the Shade and getting me on the train early 🙏 I probably would not even be aware of it had you not been posting about it when it first came out

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on this being the reason Kash loosened the hiring restrictions around bestiality.

The one thing I haven't seen done well in a farming game up to now is a central story. If there's a plot, it's usually very thin and along the edges of the gameplay (like in Stardew Valley and Fields of Mystria) and you don't get much from characters outside of relationship rank-up convos.

Over the last few years I've gotten more into farming sim games and this one delivers with a robust farming element and a really good main plot, plus the night time events shake up the gameplay in a way that really breaks up the usual monotony that comes with farming games.

Village in the Shade might end up as my game of the year....... I wish it had a manual save feature though, especially when some story sections end up going really long.

Don't forget that the base of operations should be even further away from the desert hub, preferably at the end of a level with no shortcuts, and there needs to be even more frequent chatter (but fewer unique voice lines)

Problem is I'm in postgame and there's no NG+ so I have to either restart from the beginning or continue tuning unit compositions

Netflix forgoing licensing a song in favor of hiring a rapist producer to make a trap song where the chorus is "Steel Ball Ruuuuun" x4 with periodic horse neighs throughout is something I would dream of as a shitpost

Drakengard is a game where you do the same combo against enemies who pose no threat and have 9x more health than they should while a dragon goes "truly I have never bore witness to the type of darkness that lies in the heart of man. Who can say if incest is a good or bad thing?"

Are people expecting an expansion on Disc 2? Because if that's the case, if a remake is made, you're gonna be disappointed

020

Dobu @dobu.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

Every year around this time I just see piles of "where is the xenogears remake" and I just wanna be like, "it's not coming! Chill the fuck out and replay it if you want to so badly!"

130

Dobu @dobu.bsky.social · 19/09/2026

I'm kinda tired of people demanding a xenogears remake. The original is still playable, Soraya Saga is basically retired from games and Takahashi/Monolith is with Nintendo now. The ideas in Gears have all been explored in other ways in Saga/Blade. What more does anyone want at this point?
