Starship Troopers remains one of the great movies of all time, most notably because people conservatives didn't realize it was satire. I'm doing my part!

My semi often Baltimore transit complaint: taking the light rail after work to hunt valley, but I feel like we could solve 20% of the city's transit woes by just giving the light rail right of way. Why am I sitting in traffic downtown while on a train!

@beyondvideo.bsky.social sidewalk sale is the best. It was packed! Love seeing the physical media-heads out and about. Only downside is that I'm running out of space on my shelves, and each time I go there are fewer movies to get next time.

Buying cars is one of those things everyone universally agrees is a horrible experience for the consumer. I literally heard a salesperson yell at a customer when I was shopping for mine in 2022. Don't love another tech takeover but if it makes some changes to the market I think that's a net positive

Because Draymond Green is on my TV: Draymond Green has 43 playoff games with more turnovers than made field goals, tied with Kendrick Perkins for the most such games since turnovers were first tracked in the 70s.

Southbound bus situation not great this morning! Sat at 25th and St. Paul for 25 minutes, SV finally showed and was packed. Didn't pick people up at multiple stops cause it was too full. By the time we got downtown, the next SV bus passed us. We can do better!

a reminder that a lot of the things people find unpleasant about cities - along with the noise and dirtiness - are largely a product of filling them with cars. get rid of the cars and the pleasantness of the environment improves dramatically

Something I struggle with in these conversations with friends is the focus on the hardest to house individuals. Building market-rate doesn't necessarily solve housing for the highest barrier individuals, but we shouldn't let that block awesome progress for everyone else!

One funny side effect of the snow storm is that it's proved how many of these roads you could turn into one land and it would be totally fine. Obviously more people are staying off the roads so it's not exact, but I feel like Baltimore should actually use these instances as real world test cases.

I ride my bike to work, and Monday night walked down 25th Street where I live (in the middle of the street because sidewalks weren't clear, including one I shoveled in front of a row of vacants), and saw that this was the bike lane. Glad I can telework but many others can't!

In the last month in Baltimore alone, a cop is indicted for a political blackmail scheme, a cop is indicted for trying to murder someone with a police car, and the *commander* of a district is under criminal investigation. Beating a dead horse, but what more needs to happen to stop funding them?

Very happy to have a local newspaper doing great journalism for the city. When I ran a housing program I was shocked by how many checks I mailed out to New York (not to either company mentioned here). Crossing my fingers the city and state can mitigate this fallout

On the bus downtown and the bus lane is just filled with cars and all the buses are delayed. Obviously no traffic enforcement in sight, even during peak hours. People complain the buses don't work, drive their cars, then block the bus with their cars. Should've just risked biking in the storm!

It honestly boggles the mind how many times we are explicitly shown how much cops just blatantly lie and yet we never hold their profession accountable. The NYT editorial board just ran a hit piece about how we've been too mean to cops!

Obviously the funny part is that these are straight-up hallucinated books that do not exist IRL, but here’s what I keep coming back to: if you’re a publisher, and you’re publishing AI-generated junk… why should people read the AI-generated junk you publish instead of generating their own junk?

Bike parking at the rotunda has always been lackluster, and now they've cut down this one area to only 3 spots (but really two, my bike didn't fit in the middle). Parking is a nightmare, they should encourage more biking not less! Any way to increase this @bikemore.net

As society has moved away from "college as a way to better yourself" to "college as the only way to get a job and if you don't do it you're a failure," this was the inevitable outcome. All that matters is a grade and a job, so what's the incentive not to cheat?
