Pretty decent summation of the midfield developments from @distancecovered.bsky.social. The Dom vs Flo point is one that is starting to bubble as Macca / Nyoni continue to thrive, emerge, and show what they can do.

Hmm, yeah I get it, and saw @distancecovered.bsky.social (who's more critical of Hughes on balance) say similar. Certainly true that Hughes has moved on older players and brought in talented younger players, but unclear they fit together...

Was watching @distancecovered.bsky.social & @jonmackenzie.bsky.social video about Andoni Iraola and Liverpool High press dynamics against Como. The video was about Szoboszlai & Gravenberch roles & how Liverpool tries to cover that space between the back & pressing unit.

I love this kind of analysis, especially given how knowlegdeable @knoxharrington.bsky.social & @distancecovered.bsky.social are, and how good they're both are explaining certain metrics. Although I would love for them both to mention "less obvious" potential targets LFC should look at as well.

Just watched this and, typical of @distancecovered.bsky.social, it’s really good, in large part because it’s an unhysterical analysis of Iraola’s potential impact at Liverpool. Yes it’s exciting but it may not work for a host of reasons. Also, loved the doom-laden ending. youtu.be/JjRTmTDTm_0?...

This is what I can’t understand why we signed him? Maybe the relatively low price given his age & homegrown, & at least an elite level speed. But his on the ball skills and football IQ are severely lacking. As @distancecovered.bsky.social said, he defends like an attacker, attacks like a defender

Yep, I agree. Josh has nailed it. This section in particular is where I find myself.

a screenshot of a blog saying the following:
And here's the thing. The nosedive has been
so dramatic — and it's dragged on for so
long with his face at the forefront - that I'm
not sure he'll be able to recover, almost
regardless of whether he's to blame or not.
A big part of me would love to see how Slot
performs next season once the issues
within the squad have been addressed. But
the rest of me really can't be bothered with
the circus that would follow him every
single week until his first defeat.
And I'm no longer sure whether seeing out
that process until the very end would be
worthwhile. He could turn things around,
but if nothing changed, the Reds would
probably just sack him in six months
anyway. What if Alonso has landed
somewhere else by that point?
He's lost a huge section of the fanbase, and
perhaps some of the players. As time has
progressed, Liverpool have descended into
a mishmash of different ideas, with Slot
solving problems on the fly while
attemptino to get to orios with the new-

I’d prioritise rebalancing the squad first. Guehi and Semenyo would help. Then I’d weigh up whether Slot is still terrible at his job. If yes, liquidate.
