One thing I have noticed when applying for jobs as an Enby is that some companies only give you gender options of either: Man Woman Or wouldn't you like to know. Surely it can't be that hard to add an "Other" option to the drop down menu. Don't even seem to ask for pronouns either.

I hate how much AI has wormed it's way into everything over the past few years. I want to be able to live without having it constantly shoved in my face like it's a gift from god. I do not and will never use AI in any of my work

One of my all-time favorite rules, from Pea Ridge (1980). The designer's great-great-grandfather fought in the battle, and if his unit takes damage you roll a die to see if he survives. If he dies, the designer is never born, and the game doesn't exist, and so automatically ends in a draw.

Part of being a Scottish reenactor is either going to an Scottish exhibition or watching a documentary with a video reconstruction of something historical and recognising the people in it. Sure they may be dueling Bronze Age warriors, but I think one of them has captured me in battle before.

MMF has introduced different currency options, so now all my minis are listed in proper British pounds, not these newfangled American "dollars" (Terrible name, I would have called them alloas). This has also come with a slight price increase.

I sometimes envy Highlanders and Islanders for having so many brochs just lying around the place. It feels like sometimes you cannot go more than a few hundred metres before tripping over another one. Some even have more than just the ground floor walls preserved, something Lowland brochs don't have

Coming back from Culloden Moor, I think there is one moment that will stick in my mind. Our battlefield guide stopped us at a point on the Government left and talked of how the Jacobites found themselves forced to their right by the bog into a bottleneck.

Here's a photo of a Stigmaria impression I found near South Queensferry. This is what remains of the roots system of a large tree-like Carboniferous plant (something like a Lepidodendron) that existed near or in Lake Cadell which covered the nearby area. #FossilFriday

Multi-period reenactment events are always fun to take part in as a Medieval reenactor. There is no other place where I can be photographed in full kit shooting a musket beside a bunch of Napoleonic and AWI reenactors. Nearby me, some poor peasant levy was also being used as stand for a wall gun.

Something that grinds my gears is when someone insists that the Scottish loss at the Battle of Falkirk (1298) was down to Comyn treachery. Sometimes they insist that the Comyns wanted the crown of Scotland and therefore back stabbed William Wallace. This is, from my reading, just not true.

Sueno's Stone is a 6.5 metre tall 9th-10th century #Pictish stone near Forres, annoyingly there's a hell of a lot of different historical events that the stone could be representing. The stone gets its name from Sweyn Forkbeard, whos association to the stone is highlt doubted. #StandingStoneSunday

Spare a thought for David, Earl of Strathbogie, who decided to defect to the English on the eve of the Battle of Bannockburn. Imagine watching the side you just defected to, utterly fail to win what should have been, on paper, an easy victory. Also you are now landless because of your treachery.

The penultimate king to bear the title "Rex Pictorum" (King of the Picts) was either Eochaid ap Rhun or Giric mac Dungal, succeeding Áed mac Cináeda after he was "killed by his own associates". Annoyingly different sources have different stories on how this duo(?) ruled Pictland.

If you ever feel stupid in your life, just remember that you are not, at least according to Barbour's "The Bruce", the sentries at Roxburgh castle that managed to confuse armed men for oxen. The castle fell soon afterwards

There is an quite interesting array of chronicles that cover the Wars of Independence. From the memoirs of some knight and his father (Grey's Scalacronica), to Pro-Bruce propaganda (Fordun/Bower/Wyntoun), to chronicles where you can feel the author frothing at the mouth whilst writing (Lanercost)
