How to avoid sexual assault! A QUICK AND EASY GUIDE*

sexual violence centre cork

1 DON'T PUT DRUGS IN PEOPLE'S DRINKS

4 WHEN YOU SEE A WOMAN WALKING BY HERSELF, LEAVE HER ALONE.

3 WHEN YOU COME ACROSS SOMEONE WHO IS DRUNK OR ASLEEP, THE BEST THING TO DO IS NOT RAPE THEM.

6 CARRY A WHISTLE. IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT RAPE SOMEONE, BLOW THE WHISTLE UNTIL SOMEONE COMES TO STOP YOU.

2 USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM! IF YOU CAN'T STOP YOURSELF FROM SEXUALLY ASSAULTING SOMEONE, ASK A TRUSTED FRIEND TO ACCOMPANY YOU AT ALL TIMES TO STOP YOU.

5 IF YOU ARE IN A LIFT AND SOMEONE STEPS IN, REMEMBER NOT TO SEXUALLY ASSAULT THEM.

*for perpetrators.

We don’t make you pay for the police to attend if your house is burgled, or pay the court to have the burglar tried, still less do we bankrupt you so as to do so. So if (and again I stress if) we need border controls, they should be publicly funded, and *at most* paid for at cost price by migrants

So close and yet The far right's real weapon is the mainstream elite hyping it to distract from the crisis of democracy. It's not rising because it's popular or because immigration is a "legitimate concern", it's rising because it is being built as the only alternative by those currently in power
The Guardian view on the far right’s real weapon: it is the politics of powerlessness

No: it isn’t “genuinely bad news for the far right” that the framing & salience of its pet subject has been adopted by the entire political-media system. That assumption mistakes the far right‘s demands as genuine & limited, & thus manageable, rather than being a proxy or wedge issue for much worse.
Post from “Otto English” QPing one from Sunder Katwala: Sunder posts ‘“Small boat arrivals fall to six year low" - Telegraph. June, July, August were lowest for six years’ and screenshots a headline from the Telegraph; Otto comments in the QP: ‘Genuinely bad news for the far right’

I am sure this process continues, even if it's no longer happening in the Cork and Bottle. The junktanks write what their funders want, the media translates it into "common sense", the government (of whatever colour) acts on it. Might as well cut out the middleman and put the billionaires in office.
