🧪⚒️ Interesting: modelling of length of day changes suggests that primary coupling between core and mantle is mainly a gravitational torque (dense bits of core and mantle attracting each other) rather than mechanical drag at core-mantle boundary or interaction with geomagnetic field.

For now, here's a fun doodle I did awhile back, depicting an interpretation of a spurious moon of Venus, Neith, which was once reported by astronomers way back in the 17th century. Obviously, it is well known today that Venus does not actually have any natural satellites. Still fun to draw!
A large, bright crescent shaped moon, with a white-grey coloration and shaded craters, hangs behind a tan-brown anvil cloud in a blue-green sky. Purple and blue bolts of lightning pierce through the clouds.

Version two of Kamo'oalewa. I feel very confident in these orientations and the overall shape. Some features could definitely be better matched but I'm pretty satisfied with this model. I'll be curious to see how well the unseen portions of the model match reality if/when more imagery is released.

#Jupiter as it may have appeared in 1880. This digital painting is based on a number of sketches and early photographs of Jupiter from the 1880s and 1890s, in particular the drawings of Trouvelot and Elger. #art #SpaceArt #SciArt #planet #space #1880s #1800s #1890s #GreatRedSpot #History
Digital painting. Jupiter is seen as an enormous smooth sphere, with rippling and swirling cloud banding. The Great Red Spot is an enormous red-orange oval 4 times wider than it is tall and probably a quarter of the planet's diameter across. The equatorial zone, normally a white color, is depicted here as orange and full of billowing festoons. Dark brown beads string along the northern temperate belts in the form of 'brown barge' storms. In the southern temperate zones, there are a number of small white storms. The shadow of Europa is visible as a black oval near the red spot. Io is visible as a yellow dot in the upper left.

Antigravity Asymmetric absorption and re-emission of solar energy can cause small asteroids to rotate faster and faster like a cosmic pinwheel. This can lead to fragmentation when centrifugal force overcomes the object's own gravity.

Seattle Times opinion piece on Vision Zero is dangerously misleading
From the Seattle Times. Seattle Library card holders can access the story here. "Spending on safety isn't making Seattle streets less hazardous" This unequivocal headline in the Seattle Times is completely false. The op-ed it is attached to uses a very misleading analysis of available data to draw the unsupported conclusion that safe streets projects actually make Seattle more dangerous, not less. In fact, the author argues without a shred of evidence, safety would improve if the city instead focused on reducing car congestion. The most obvious and glaring issue that supersedes all the others in this piece is that the vast majority of Seattle's traffic deaths an injuries are happening on wide multi-lane streets where Seattle has not yet invested in a significant safety project.
