I just created a quick map depicting which portions of the United States are now (as of today) or will imminently be (by early June) without 24/7 local National Weather Service coverage (per Washington Post reporting). #CAwx #CAfire #CAwater #ORwx #AKwx #WYwx #KSwx
Map of local National Weather Service office "areas of responsibility" modified (using polygons with black outlines and red fill) to indicate where recent/expanding cuts to NOAA/NWS have resulting in understaffing so extreme that some offices can not longer operate on a 24/7 basis.

The only snow left in Fargo is the snow in piles, and the snow in the shade. How much snow is left in your yard?

We have another warm and breezy day through the region, as a few spots will look to get their first 60° day of the spring. Tomorrow looks even windier, and we're keeping an eye on elevated fire conditions for much of the Dakotas as the wind ramps up. #ndwx #mnwx

Light winds have led to patchy fog this morning. With temperatures in the teens and 20s, a few slick spots will be possible with the fog. Today we continue to warm up with cloudy skies, and a few fickle weak waves will bring in spotty shower chances through the start of the week. #ndwx #mnwx

Snow can make a windy day like today so much worse... Langdon has 8-12" of snow on the ground, and there is a blizzard! Fergus Falls has little to no snow, and it's just a windy day.

Meteorologist Dillon Vogt @dillonvwx.bsky.social · 17/01/2025
A blizzard warning has now been issued for the far north. Visibility is less than a quarter mile and travel is near impossible. A high wind warning has also been issued. This is for blowing snow and wind gusts near 60 mph. #ndwx #mnwx

Enjoy the warm January day today, because it's not going to be here for long. Travel impacts are likely tomorrow with the strong NW wind bringing in colder air and light snow. #ndwx

It is a slippery and blustery morning through the region. Winds have begun to pick up out of the northwest, and today even though snow will taper off this morning, blowing snow & low visibility will continue, with temperatures gradually falling through the day. #ndwx #mnwx

Areas of mix (freezing rain/sleet/some Lt. snow) are leading to slippery/icy stretches on the roads out west, & even some no travel advisories. Fortunately, the worst conditions keep west, but we will still see that mix/slick spots overnight in the south RRV. Mix clears out by Mon AM. #ndwx #mnwx

For much of the valley, it is a quiet and cloudy morning, aside from patches of fog that could bring slick spots to the northern parts of North Dakota today. As we head through the day, we are keeping an eye on a brief chance for a light wintry mix this afternoon. #ndwx #mnwx
