and - this is the key here - it is ALSO at the foundation of the resistance to that narrative insofar as that resistance is also “progressive,” I.e. relies on a progressive teleology of stages (e.g. feudalism, capitalism, socialism). Indigenous critics of the left have long seen this as well

We all deserve a world we want to live in, and I hope one day we can have that. At least for me, that's the best suicide prevention- fighting for a world where our needs are met and where we feel responsibility for each other's wellbeing. ...It'd also help not to be talked about as if subhuman.

Those who haven't felt it really seem to misunderstand how it is for many of us... I feel like it becomes about preventing themselves the pain of losing people instead of reducing the pain that leads to it. Chronic suicidality particularly, goes from "you can talk to me" to "You are too much".
