If you’re a guy, when you turn 20, you have to make sure to have read a few manga not made for teenage boys or else you’re gonna be arguing about which battle Shonen has more women per page online forever.

media literacy is all about finding a balance between critical thinking and surface level enjoyment. too much surface level enjoyment and u become a chud excusing horrible things. too much critical thinking and ull be grasping at straws and will never enjoy any piece of art for the rest of ur life

Terrible FFXIV video idea: Canonically, based on both individuals we've met and general lore, how bad is every job at their in-game job? After all, Warrior is too mindlessly angry to be a good tank. Every Dark Knight AND Dragoon we've canonically met at least starts as a failure at their job.

i've seen people in the past get mad at saying "media" or "content" instead of "art" and like i dunno about you i actually get mad when people say "entertainment" instead of "art" or "media" also "media" isn't even that bad, quit acting like it invokes mindless consumerism just as much as "content"

"the graphics have caught up with our imagination" is intended as a compliment but is inadvertently damning of the whole project. Yeah, the imagination of Halo no longer exceeds a high-resolution tree. Cool.

The original Halo presented an alluring and mysterious setting that combined alien ruins with Pacific Northwest-inspired natural grandeur, but the level of detail back then simply hadn't yet caught up with the imagination. That's resolved here, with a gorgeous visual update that makes the whole campaign pop with excitement.

A repost for the later crowd! As good as the Vana'diel raids are as a crossover, I think it's also huge that it's actually really well integrated with the expansion around it. Vana'diel could've only felt earned as part of Dawntrail, it's a quietly important addition to the story of Tural.

folks going "actually art isn't mean to comfort at all the disturb is meant to be disturbed and being disturbed is good actually" when "comfort the disturbed" means giving grace and catharsis to marginalised people and "disturb the comforted" means confronting your own complacency.

Didi Dies Everyday @didi786.bsky.social · 24/05/2026

"art is meant to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed" and the people going "omg i love this quote" just think it something like disliking pinkerton by weezer means you're media illiterate or smth. By ALLAH you do not know what "disturbed" or "comforted" even means in the context!

a friend sent me the original poem the "art is meant to disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed" quote comes from. Yeah he was right, I am now more angrier than i was at how people misinterpreted it and parroted it around like a typical "oh so deep" quote.
