In a fantasy world I once dabbled around in I wrote the sport of "Falling Stars". Riders on carthorse sized dragons passed the Comet, a large metal ball on a chain, between players with the aim of striking a pole. More chain wraps on the pole meant more points. Very fast. Potentially lethal.

Star Frontiers has the Great Game of the Ul-Mor. Desert octopus people riding dinosaurs maneuver a heavy leather bag to the opposing goal, between rows of spear obstacles. Occasionally, an enormous predator will storm the field and try to eat the players and their mounts.

The matriarchal Dar warrior culture plays stickball, which resembles pre-colonial lacrosse, and is played with a wooden ball. The player who currently has the ball is "live" and may both strike, and be struck by other players. A game ends at sunset, or when a team runs out of players able to compete

Joshira is fond of a spinning jumping game called Evol. She swears it was played back in the monastery. Her long-suffering best friend is unconvinced. According to Joshira, they would be perfectly able to play, if she were a Goliath like any reasonable person, instead of a gnome.

Yes I made a game called Hammerball which uses heavy stone and wood balls and a long-handled hammer. It's a rough game and the additional rules grew out of players dying or being maimed on the field of play. Sort of a mix of hurling, lacrosse and rugby.

I can only consume streams with video content, but when it comes to APs its very important to me. I have been interested in the premise of advertised APs and just never watched them because I couldnt find any indication what system it used.

Game system is a major consideration for AP. You want a streamlined system without extremely complex rules. Looking up rules or finding the subtable for a particular role. Complexity gets in the way of the characters and storytelling which, after all, are the real draw of an Actual Play show.

I agree with this fully! I usually put in a small rules explanation at the start of any new series, but try to make it brief enough that it can be skipped in case people want to go in blind or don’t want to know rules anyway! 😅
