Love my induction. It had knobs, and is as intuitive as gas. The ones with push-button controls often come with a timer which can be handy (but tedious and not as intuitive imo). Consider how you cook before you decide on knobs vs push-buttons.

1/ The biggest safety-net cuts arrives not with a Republican announcing them. They arrive as a computer decision: denied, flagged, delayed, reduced. Don’t forget Netanyahu, who talked Trump into attacking Iran. Every other US prez had the sense not to, because they understood the risks. Trump didn’t put an ounce of thought into it and naively expected an easy win.

This study does not include additional savings from liability claims and insurance. No more medical claims on auto, home or business policies for accidents or “slip and falls”.
Text excerpt from Yale School of Public Health report: “The model identified five major sources of savings: lower pharmaceutical prices, Medicare-level payments to providers, reduced administrative overhead, less fraudulent billing, and fewer avoidable emergency department visits and hospitalizations. Even under more conservative assumptions about drug prices and fraud reduction, the researchers projected that the savings would reach at least $663 billion a year. Both figures account for an estimated $304 billion in additional spending to meet unmet medical needs, reimburse care that now goes unpaid, and provide universal dental coverage.
A universal healthcare policy would also save tens of thousands of lives, the researchers project.”

Jennifer Nelson’s entry to this year’s Minnesota State Fair crop art
A localized version of Guernica with a loon at the center and a person holding an ICE OUT sign

“My piece was inspired by Picasso's Guernica, a work that was his response to the Nazi's bombing of the Basque town. I thought there was a fitting parallel between these incidents about the high price paid by ordinary people when aggressive regimes try out new tactics of war, as well as a fitting juxtaposition of the darkness of living such an experience and the light we shone through it in our own resistance and care for one another. The patterns near Renee Good and Alex Pretti’s mouths are actually their last words in Morse code: ‘I’m not mad at you,’ and ‘Are you okay?’”

Alphabet, Amazon, Meta, and Tesla paid just 4.9% of their profits in federal corporate taxes in 2025. They've seen their collective tax bill drop by $95B thanks to two rounds of Trump tax cuts. Meanwhile, tech layoffs in 2026 have already surpassed 2025. Trickle-down economics was always a scam.

Chuck Schumer: "The founding fathers called America God's noble experiment. I believe in all three words to this day: we are one nation under God, we have clung to noble ideals for longer than any other nation, and we are an experiment always changing, trying to make ourselves better.

I would argue we don’t have a “top down” economy. That has always been a lie (nothing ever trickled down). It’s a bottom-up economy. And the bottom (which now includes the struggling middle class) can’t make ends meet anymore. They’re pessimistic because they don’t see how it will ever get better.
