I think I could make an argument that Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" is more culturally relevant than "Choosin' Texas" because the former is currently in an Applebees commercial.

Oh, so this writer does know that monoculture is dead, but they think that's a bad thing lol No, it's a freaking great thing! It means culture is vibrant.

That lack of monoculture is part of the reason why some were reticent to declare “Choosin’ Texas” the song of the summer when it was clear there was no viable competition (in chart terms, at least). We’re all living different summers at parallel times, with social media feeding back to us only what we want to hear and see. If you care to live in a silo, rent is free.

Finally—I've switched my website from WordPress (which I hated with the fire of 1000 suns) to a combination of Astro, Keystatic, and Vercel. I couldn't have done this without AI. I'm so excited to have something that fits more of the way I operate. I'm hoping I can stick to writing now!

I don't disagree with the thread below but frame it somewhat differently as an academic who regularly sees people who read for a living fail in the way described here. From that perspective it seems more a cultural crisis than an educational one

Today, I traveled back to the Connecticut River Valley in NH for a celebration of life for my aunt. It's truly one of the most beautiful places in the US. I totally forgot how wonderful that area is.

I literally do not understand why this is a hill to die on, because there are plenty of other inanimate things that we use anthropomorphizing language with because we can't (or *don't want to*) ascribe agency. It's *really* common in the humanities.
