I really, really, really liked Star Wars Zero Company. www.thegamer.com/star-wars-ze...

Star Wars Zero Company Is The Best Thing To Happen To Star Wars Since Andor
Star Wars Zero Company is slick, satisfying, and a surprisingly earnest exploration of how fascism thrives in apathy.

I'm pretty sure Lucas just watched Once Were Warriors, and though "man, I need this crazy looking dude to play my army of jedi killers"

Lucas made his fair share of mistakes in the prequels, but credit where its due, using a guy with such distinctive traits as Tem to play the clones was a genius move. Imagine how agressively boring it would have been to have a whole army of action-hero-generic-white-dude with an american accent.

It's based on art by artist Josan Gonzales, with his authorization for the production of this realistic version, and illustrates the Brazilian exclusive cover of the book 'Neuromancer' (a source of pride for us all Brazilians)

Hello everyone! Many of you likely saw this image recently with the Apple TV+ 'Neuromancer' promotion. Some know, others don't, but this artwork is mine, created alongside actor & post-production artist Milton Menezes, as a personal project and a homage to the original Neuromancer romance

Daniel Rodera @destructorn7.bsky.social · 27/07/2026

Artists, show us something epic!
A full-colour illustration. A soldier wearing an oilskin in a rain-soaked environment holds a rifle, facing a dramatic battlefield illuminated by explosions and gunfire. The backdrop features dark clouds of smoke and vibrant flashes of light, capturing the intensity of Operation Swordbreaker in 1975 during an alternate history Vietnam War. The scene conveys a sense of urgency and the harsh realities of war.

The last time I researched this, I discovered the timeline "sport is open to all; woman wins; sport is immediately closed off to women; women's league is eventually formed years later" is almost universal. Women's leagues were overwhelmingly created *strictly* to protect the egos of men.

I feel very interested about Hideo, Maelcum and the space rastafarians. I get that Gibson was very likely well intentioned, but I always thought his representation of asian and black characters in the book was a bit steriotyped. It was the 80s, after all. I would like to see how they are portrayed

And of course, adressing the elephant in the room, I don't want to be mistaken as a culture war weirdo. I love that the cast is diverse and in fact, I would have liked to see more asian actors given the importance of japan in the setting

Yeah, at the end of the day I think it's just a personal issue of mine, I love Neuromancer way too much and my picture of it is way too personal. I just cannot stop thinking about how much better someone like Riz Ahmed would have been as Case

I just don't recognize either Molly nor Case when looking at this characters, and I don't see the Sprawl. 2077 actually looks a lot more like my idea of gibson's world

Daniel Rodera @destructorn7.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
Yeah, I know at the end of the day it doesn't really matter, but I've drawn so much fanart, and have built such a detailed picture of the sprawl in my head that I don't think I'll enjoy this show very much. Neuromancer is my favourite book and my relationships with it, very personal.

Daniel Rodera @destructorn7.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
You are right, but the book makes a lot of enphasis on how etherial and pale Molly looks, and also William Gibson himself stated that she is supposed to look like Chrisie Hynde. Out of all the characters she is the one most vividly described and characterized, even all fanart of her looks the same

Daniel Rodera @destructorn7.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
In fact, now that I think about it, Molly's actress actually fits my idea of how Linda Lee looks. If their roles could be swapped that would look quite better to me
010
Daniel Rodera @destructorn7.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
I always pictured Molly as looking creepely pale, as if she was sick. Actually, the actress who plays Linda Lee looks a lot more like my mental image of Molly

I seem to be in the minority, but I don't really like it. I like that they took a more original take on the aesthetics of cyberpunk, but it looks way too clean (2077 also intended to have a personality of of it's own and worked way better in my opinion). Also case and Molly look way too healthy

Daniel Rodera @destructorn7.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
I thought I was going crazy when seeing everyone praising this. Case and Molly look to healthy and generic, and everything is way too clean. This looks nothing like my mental image of the sprawl

Everything looks way too clean and generic, extremely far away from anything I imagined while reading. At the end of the day, this is my favourite book and I have an extremely vivid image of its world in my mind, so imposing this adaptation over something so personal is not something I want to do
001
Daniel Rodera @destructorn7.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
I mean, I've been picturing this characters for years as having the level of decadence you can see on this fanart, and the show portrays them as if they came out straight from an apple factory.

Daniel Rodera @destructorn7.bsky.social · 26/07/2026
Btw, I don't want to be mistaken as a culture war Internet nazi: It's great to have a non white actress play Molly, the issue is that she looks way too healthy (same thing with Case) She is supposed to look sick and pale, and that's definitely not the case.

Case is supposed to be a burnt out drug addict, not a generic white handsome guy. Molly is the most iconic character from the book and she looks nothing like her, she is described time and time again as "sickly pale". I'm sure her casting was made just to create discourse between online racists.
