Transracial adoption is the ultimate diversity hire. Just like adoption has been used as a racist tool to control, erase and oppress, it has also been used to appear including and non-racist. virtually *all* depictions of adoption in mainstream popular culture are given from the point of view of adopters, cater to adopters, flatter adopters, vindicate adopters. These depictions do not complement #adopteevoices, they erase them.

International adoptees from around the world have additional harms from adoption. We lose access to our country, culture, language, and people of origin. Whatever identity we had before we were adopted is completely Americanized and erases our complex identites. 🥚
