#AwesomeCharacters Marga is the MC of my current project, so she gets the hot seat tonight. If Marga was writing a scene, she would be unhappy that it wasn't plot related. She's really being put through the ringer, so to speak. The book's working title is Fragile Loyalty 😅 1/3

I am seeing lots of advice to feed writer's stuff into programs to detect whether it is AI or not, and that seems super problematic on many levels, including that the accuracy of such programs is debatable. No one is more anti-AI than I am but I'm not gonna feed my hard-earned words into any program

#Septopolis Will try to be brief They have a complex system. There's no cops, or L. E. that patrols. They have investigators, but they only look into things reported by someone. If they see something, they have to report it like everyone else and they can't work on their own case. 1/6

#WeeknightWriters Q6 Thank you for the chat! I have a novella coming out on October 6th! The Witch of the Wood is a spooky MM fantasy romance about a young man going into the woods to break a curse. Things don't go as planned! books2read.com/u/bw6gwP applesncinnamon.itch.io/the-witch-of...

Over a background of twisted branches against dark bluegreen, The Witch of the Wood by Alex Larkspur
Enter the wood.
Find the witch.
Break the curse.

Cover description: The cover of The Witch of the Wood by Alex Larkspur. It features two men in a dark and gloomy forest. Milo stands in front, a man with tan skin and short, dark hair. He’s dressed in a cream tunic and a green cloak around his shoulders. He has a bow and arrows. He is clearly afraid as he stares at his left hand. His fingers are blackened due a curse that is spreading across his hand. Another man, Cam, is turned the other way and holding Milo’s right hand. He’s looking over his shoulder and looking at Milo with concern. His clothes are bright, colorful, and patchwork. The gloom of the forest mutes their color. The trees seem to close in around them.

THE KEEPER OF LONELY SPIRITS is coming out in paperback in 2027! June 22 for the US, Dec 8 for the UK US preorder: bookshop.org/p/books/the-... UK preorder: www.waterstones.com/book/the-kee... #WeeknightWriters

An old man cursed with immortality hunts ghosts rather than making mortal friends who will die one day. When residents of an Ohio town beset by a vengeful spirit adopt him as their own, he must decide: leave to protect his heart, or stay to save their lives? E.M. Anderson's The Keeper of Lonely Spirits, upcoming in paperback. The cover features a lonely cottage, surrounded by headstones, with red smoke bursting from the chimney and red mist twisting through the headstones, against a starry night sky, with a quote from a starred Library Journal review reading, "A (literally) haunting story full of heart." Paperback and text are against a blurred background photo of a dandelion in silhouette with its seeds blowing away from its fluffy head.

#QueerPrompts I have a long list. The majority of my Talitha Harbor characters are, especially if the attraction is only sexual. Some have a slight preference in one direction, particularly if it's more than sex. But the preference isn't strong enough to make them straight or gay/lesbian.

Today I turn 28, so I'm sharing a teaster my next project as a little treat to myself. Coming 10.31.26, this is a religious horror that takes place in a near-future dystopia and follows an exorcist who doesn't believe in angels and the angel who is very real and now his problem.

A 4 square moodboard featuring (from top left and going clockwise)
- a brown wing close up
A pair of hands praying with rosary beads between them and a dark background
- a close up of an eye without an iris or pupil
- a collection of lit candles

In the center is black text on a white background that says "God was silent."

An angel statue in a cemetery as the background with snippets of the book over top in white text on a black background. They read:

"Aren't you supposed to tell me to not be afraid?"

"OH, little exorcist," the angel says, and when he smiles at Cassiel, it's all impossibly sharp teeth. "You should be afraid."
