In my thrillers there’s usually a stretch of a couple weeks for the main event (thrillers unfold quickly) and then a jump for the epilogue, so things cover at least two seasons. #QueerWritersChat

I have so many questions about audiobooks with full casts where one character is meant to be imitating another but uses a different accent, presumably because the first hasn't heard the second's performance and doesn't know how they spoke with a particular accent.

This depends on the project. Sometimes I lose count and the story simmers for years. Other times it springs full-blown from my head like Athena. #QueerWritersChat

If I have plot issues, I’ll sit down and write a bunch of questions that the story needs to answer, and then usually questions about HOW to answer them. For line edits, seriously the read aloud function is key. It slows me down and tells me what I actually put on the page. #QueerWritersChat

Self-editing involves long breaks between writing and the first pass, reading it in different formats (on my kindle, in Scrivener, in Word) and using the read aloud function to catch the pesky typos (though, through, tough) and missing or repeated words. #QueerWritersChat
