Today I turn 28, so I'm sharing a teaster my next project as a little treat to myself. Coming 10.31.26, this is a religious horror that takes place in a near-future dystopia and follows an exorcist who doesn't believe in angels and the angel who is very real and now his problem.

He opens for you so easily. The paper slit of his skin where your knife parts him. He is beyond begging. Blood so dark it is almost black pours from the ravine you have carved into him. The knifepoint takes you deeper, into the darkness of his belly, through the silver membrane that holds this most intimate part of him. You have never touched another so deeply.
You pare back the skin, pull apart the ribs like jaws. Within, the wine dark intercourse of the innards. How like stained glass are they; luminescent, fragile. They quiver at your fingertips. Blue veins branch delicately over the vulgar shape of the intestines as they bulge and spill from the cavity. The gleaming, pale swell of the stomach, the trembling maze of his lungs. The dark lump of his liver. Nutty yellow fat glistens beneath the dermis. Pale fluid weeps from his precious organs.
Blood slicks your arms to your elbows like opera gloves as you plunge them into his body. There is a scent beneath the rust, a savour that makes your mouth water. His empty eyes are on you, the head tilted, limp. Already the body begins to collapse on itself. As the organs swell against your skin warmth seeps into you. It is indecent, you think, to feel his body heat. His blood on your body cools quickly, but under your palm he is hot with the life that has left him.

You find the heart like a light in the cavern. The tough muscle is hard in your hand, dense, heavy. The colour is obscene; carnal crimson. Meat, the colour of his tongue. You wrestle it from the ropes of veins and arteries that want so desperately to hold it in place. Blood pours from the aorta as you rip it free.
You place your lips to it. It creates the image of itself between your lower lip and cupid’s bow in a scarlet smear. You open your dripping mouth. Your teeth score lines into it. Sinew, rammed between your crooked teeth. You bite, and bite again. Metal and salt. Your eyes are dark, your breath hot and shallow. You feel a primal thrill as you swallow, as the flesh slides down your throat.
You feel a weight lifted from you as the meat settles in your stomach. You close your eyes and breathe out a sigh of release.
This is the ultimate consummation of your desire. He lies before you, lifeless, spent. You observe the cathedral of his body, the broken altar in your hands. This is a raw kind of worship. In your mouth, you have made him a saint.
