There is, writes @davidfrum.bsky.social, an "implicit quid pro quo in these lucrative deals offered to Trump’s family and friends: If you compel Ukraine to surrender, we will enrich you beyond reckoning" www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1...

Free weekend out. The big story is that Donald Trump is now free to be what he always was--strong supporter of Vladimir Putin and an agent pushing for Russian victory. He no longer has to pretend he cares at all about Ukrainian dead or Russian War crimes. phillipspobrien.substack.com/p/weekend-up...

What I particularly liked was how he joined the dots between everything, rather than the usual silo approach of stand-alone issues. Seems obvious to me, but has been wilfully ignored for too long.

Here's a twist on Canadian legend Alanis Morissette's song "Ironic" (who was amazing when one of us saw her live last month). It's an acoustic version about Trump's #USCanada #tariffs, #tradewar and his attempted renaming of #LakeOntario. It's called "Moronic" 🎶 - lyrics: youtu.be/Y6OGKFQBG7s

@mrjamesob.bsky.social IT: a mix of authenticity, integrity, personality, (G)SOH, gravitas, respect, honesty, charisma, empathy, confidence. It's all of those things - any one of them missing / with the wrong emphasis / at the wrong time, and the balance is ruined, sometimes fatally.

Burnham has got to be bold from day 1, say & do things that might attract negative press & reaction from the usual suspects. He must immediately change the narrative and stop reacting to the 🐂💩. If he doesn’t, he will morph into more of the same and just be a disappointment.
